when i install my 1 gb ram for my 3520gz laptop, i get the blue screen of death!

when i take it out, my laptop seems to work fine. but i'll be running on 256mb of internal ram...

the ram that i purchased is PNY technologies pc2700 ddr-333/266.

did i purchase the wrong ram for my laptop? it doesnt seem to work.
do i need to upgrade bios or something? my old ram that came with the laptop, 256mb samsung pc2700, doesnt seem to work too. when i put that in, i get the same error. anyone know whats up? help!

go into system -> advanced -> start up and recovery and uncheck "Automatic restart" - this will give us the opportunity to see what the error is when bsod

ur old ram did not work also, rare that 2 modules got basted one after another

download cpuZ and see what is the spec on ur working stick

cheers ...

try set ur bios back to loading default value (F9 in bios, usually) and review ur drivers, doubt that this is a ram issue

one more on bsod - was this at start or was it during an app?
if at start, how far in was ur window screen?, how about in safe mode?

cheers ...

Do you have more then one memory slot. The other is probably internal on this unit right? It is not too difficult to pull the top cover off and remove the keyboard but maybe that is just from my stand point. The reason why I ask is because if you have ever pulled too hard on the memory or messed up any of the pins on the connector it will give you similar errors as it would for bad memory. Also did you check bios to see if your chip would accept 1g of memory. If you do have internal memory in the other slot and they are not matched, ie 256 to 256 512 to 512 it will give the pool caller error. Hope it helps!
