just got c90s...got some issues

I just got my laptop from cyberpower (specs at bottom)...and i have some issues id like to resolve.

i am a total noob when it comes to computers so please consider the language barrier

it doesnt feel like my laptop is running as fast as it could....it feels kinda sluggish.
Gaming performance is "meh" at best..and is very buggy and crash-prone
it wont even let me play the more current games (lost planet)
how would i be able to test it to find out if everything is running at max?

i havent updated the drivers...cyberpower said that they did that.

please help a poor noob out

specs:
E6700 at 2.66GHZ
2GB RAM
NVIDIA 8600 512mb
7200rpm 200GB HDD
Vista home premuim 64bit

ps: other than the problems described above(which im sure are fixable) the c90s is an amazing laptop that i recomend to everyone.

. disable un.needed start up processes and services (cCleaner is a good free tool)
. turn the nagging uac off
. get some simple free virus scanner (avast, avg)
. turn off disk indexing

try again :-) &yeah, it is an amazing machine

Yeah, you need to configure it right....on my gddr3 card I have to run the stock drivers or take a performance hit (until Asus updates them)
