Geeze, the card itself is barely mobile - the heat sink looks like you need a truck to carry it in

(And before anyone flips out, yes, I did read the part in Tomshardware where they say it's lighter than it looks... it'd have to be, because it looks like it could crack your motherboard if you forgot to screw in the tiedown before moving the case )

That's the beauty of wishful thinking, a man can dream can't he? A man can dream....

Well, while you're dreaming, how about dreaming up a 4... nah, make it 5 spindle laptop with... ohhh, say a 6 GHz CPU and 10 GB of RAM that weighs maybe .8 pounds and has 64 hours battery life. Through a 17... nah, make it 21 inch screen on it and price it around $80.

If you're going to dream, dream big, I say
post #26 of 50
when i read about a 5 spindle system, i had to check again just to make sure it wasnt microsoft who mad that post
post #27 of 50
Welll.... if they made a system with the specs above, would you turn it down?
Would I turn it down? Probably not as a desktop but I would as a laptop, can you imagine the size and weight of a 6 spindle notebook with a 21" screen? Crazy
stu
.... but I also specified .8 pounds - light as a feather
post #30 of 50
True, but its still a 21" screen....... That's like a lap-and-a-half-top
stu
yeah i agree with stu, either they make a retractable screen or it will be just way too big!!!!
forget the 21" screen, forget the retractable screen... howabout some sorta holographic projector... anybody see that movie paycheck? heh
post #33 of 50
sweet, that would be awesome!!! a holographic projector!!!
Heck, let's go all out and get a fully immersive environment like a Holodeck
post #35 of 50
Heck, lets just get Internet like that in Futurama, fully immersive and 3d, now that would be nice indeed.

Regarding the CPU upgrade, dont u think dell would make more money offering a new centrino Laptop instated of give the 8600 Dothan support( with a new bios that is) what do u think.plus i dont think they are going to want everyone going in there laptop and changing there CPU if u know what i mean.

What do u think?
Looks like new bios A07 gives support for new CPU's
post #39 of 50
actually sharp has a 3d monitor comming out in japan where it projects teh image out of the screen. I'll find the link to it.
That would be great. But do you need glasses or anything to see it in 3d? I'm sure they're not up to that level with Holograms as of yet (last I saw they could make holograms within small spheres, but with limited colour/ detail).
