Lol I guess I was right with the estimate...kinda limited config options though...Those SSD's are a little expensive lol.
Lowest spec is 4.1k before taxes?
yah lol...and to think somone on another thread said it would be around $2,200
post #5 of 40
Your forgeting that thats the kinda money charged for owning such a renouned piece of "art". Seriously though, ouch. And why are they charging $25 more for two 7200rpm 200GB HDs vs two 7200/5400rpm 250GB HDs for 25$ less??
Yeah but it is already maxed at 4.1k

extreme CPU, 2x200gb HD 7200rpm, uxga screen, 8700gt SLI, draft N wireless, Vista Ultimate.......

IDK what the OP added to get it up to $6000, might have added dual 64gb SSD's in RAID but that is just ridiculous.

Still a pricey notebook

Wait a minute, guys... I used an evalue code to get the system to come up, so you will have more options than just the X7900, vist ultimate, etc. so it shouldn't start out at $4k.

And, yes I did add the RAID SSD's....
How were you able to find that? Still shows the M1710 for me.

Ah right, was wondering why the options were so limited. Still dont understand how the two 7200rpm 200gbs are 25$ more expensive than two 7200 or 5400rpm 250gb HDs..

Like OP said, he found an E-Value code somewhere.. probably from an advertisment.

Makes me appreicate my 1705 for all its basking glorrious power and only $1600
post #15 of 40
at a minimum you are going to get the 8700 in Sli, anyithng else on that machine would not even be worth a second thought.

I managed to put it over 7k pretty easy

ack!

that's because that physics proc isn't worth the board it's printed on at this point

You're paying for the physx card. Remember, I used an evalue code so that will be an option I am sure you can opt out of...
were there soundcard upgrades? was that the max video card? did they have any other options?
dammmmmmmmmm

thought my m1710 was expencive... in 6 months it will be more affordable.

just have to take extra special care of my xps, if it gets messed up and replaced with one of those monsters i wouldn't be happy. just too ugly
