Hello.
I have the Xi 1547 model with the HD-DVD drive. The system also has two similar hard disks connected to the builtin VIA Raid controller but configured as separate IDE drives.
I'm trying to boot the system for repairs, without using the installed MCE 2005, and I'm having some major problems.
Any boot CD I've tried (BartPE, MiniPE, ERD, etc) refuses to start up.
The CD is read and then the system goes directly to the hard disk.
All these CDs work fine in my desktop.
I installed the Windows Recovery Console on the hard disk but I can't boot into it.
It crashes with a 007B STOP which is probably related to its lack of support for the VIA Raid controller.
If I try to supply the VIA drivers during boot, I'm stuck again since it expects them on a floppy drive which the laptop doesn't have.
I've put copies of the drivers on a CD as well as a USB stick. None of them are looked at for the drivers.
So how do I get around this?
Why are the boot CDs ignored? Howcould anybody ever fix a corrupted system if it's unbootable?
Thanks in advance for any ideas.
