DELL VOSTRO 1500 1.6 Ghz and 1.8 Ghz

Hi all,

I have planned to buy DELL VOSTRO laptop. But I have two options
1. 1.6 Ghz - $679
2. 1.8 Ghz - $809

I dont know which one to choose. can anyone tell the difference between 1.6 and 1.8 Ghz and let me know which wud be the best.

1.8 ghz cpu runs at 200mhz faster than 1.6 ghz cpu,its as simple as that.

So the 1.8 is better [faster]whether you can notice a difference,without running a cpu benchmark program is another thing

save your $130; if you want a faster cpu, do at least 2.0/2.2ghz to have a noticeable diff.

go with 2.0ghz instead of 1.6 going to 1.8ghz, nonetheless it depends on what you will be doing, for basic computing, internet surfing, 1.6ghz is enough, save you $130 for additional mems or accessories.

I have owned a 17" Inspiron with a 1.8, a 17" XPS with a 2.0, and I currently own a 14" Vostro with a 1.6. For games, I noticed no difference between the 1.8 and the 2.0, and for general applications I have noticed no difference between the 1.6 and the 2.0. I have noticed other hardware differences, though. I would recommend putting any saved money into a 7200RPM HD, a better vid card (something not integrated), or more ram (at least 2gb). Those hardware upgrades will give you noticeable performance increases for just about anything you will do. The faster hard drive will decrease load times, the non integrated vid card will free up resources and give you better graphics options, and more ram will let you do more things at once without a decrease in performance.

1.6 is the better option. you probably wont see much of a difference from 1.6-1.8
