Dell's Infamous "InProduction" Status.... Question?

I know people have been in the "InProduction>Build" stage for weeks while dell ironed out their issues. Well, my IXPS just went into the same phase of production, BUILD that is not KITTING.
Was wondering since systems have begun shipping again, has anyone been recently moved into this phase of production and moved out?
If so, how long did it take you?
Thanks,
J

This question does not apply to people who have been "InProduction" for weeks... Thanks

mine just went into "inproduction" today so i would be curious to know how long the current build times are as well

When did you order yours Diesel? I ordered on 3/28 and am curious to know when mine will move from pre-production to production. Looks like I'm a bit behind you in the queue. Thanks.

ohhhh, that's weird. i placed my order on 3/31 with an estimated ship date of 4/26. Wonder how dell's order queuing logic works. I wonder if it's by region. Did you order yours online or via a live sales agent? (online for me)

home office or small business? (home office for me)

also you a long time dell purchaser or first time? (long time purchaser for me)

I live in Virginia (US)
Ordered my IXPS on 03/31
Just went into "InProduction" today, when I called to check the status they said it was in the BUILD stage, thats why I posted this thread.
Basic Order contained:
3.4 Not EE / 1024 Mem / 100GB / 1450a-b-gcard/ Extra Battery
Let us know if yours moves out of this stage??
Thanks

nm that was for the free gifts. I didn't think they would ship them seperately.

What’s weirder is that my estimated ship date is 4/21! I'm in the US (Texas) and ordered my iXPS online through the Employee Purchase Program. I've ordered two desktop machines from them (several years ago) but have been building my own ever since.

Maybe the delta is due to the configuration. Here's mine:

INTEL PENTIUM4 3.4GHZ,HT,15.4 WUXGA,XPS
512MB DDR 400MHZ,IXPS
60GB ULTRA ATA HD 72K,I9100
4X CD/DVD BURNER (DVD+RW/+R),MOD I9100
96 WHR 12 CELL PRIMARY BATT W/SUBWOOFER
132 WHR 16-CELL SECONDARY BATTERY,XPS
DELL TM1400,802.11 A/B/G,INT,9100/XPS
PLASMA QUICKSNAP COVER

Betcha anything the queuing is based on the quicksnap cover style!

When I look at the order status page I see that stages 1 and 2 (Order Processing & Pre-production) have check marks by them and completion dates. The third step, "In Production", is in blue, but all the sub-levels (kitting, build, etc) are grayed out and there are no dates for any of them.

jresurf, did you get dates next to kitting before it went to build? I know I'm not helping any with your question about how long it takes to move out of build. Sorry.

Looks like I need to get on the phone and ask whatzzup.

Well, if this helps somehow to figure out the Dell mysterious production logistics, I placed the order for my I9100 on 3/22, went into "kitting" 3/26 and lasted there one day, moved into "building" on 3/27 and has been static like that ever since.. but this is in Canada and maybe production is "frozen" as usual...

I9100 2.8, WUXGA, 512, 60 @7200rpm, WiFi.

hahhahaha let's solve the US logistics first, then we can tackle the wacky canadian system

Yeah all the options remain greyed out under the InProduction stamp. However, if you call dell and run through their gammut of pre-recorded options you will find one called ORDER STATUS and that one is where they listed mine currrently in the build STAGE. My estimated ship date is APRIL 22. I had previously ordered/received/returned an I8600 and it shipped about 1.5 week before the estimated ship date. Obviously returned it for the XPS...
I will post here once I have noticed any change to my status...
Thanks

My iXPS went into testing today (4/8). I ordered on 3/28 and shipping is scheduled for 4/21.

Both the online order page and telephone system (call 1-800-624-9896, option 2, then option 1) have me at the Testing stage. The online order status page shows checkmarks by Kitting and Build, with Testing in blue.

Boxing is the worst guys, mine finally shipped today (ordered on 3/13) and it blazed through those steps once it started production... testing took maybe a day, but boxing lasted three!

There seems to be a disconnect between the online order status page and phone order status.

I ordered my i9100 on Apr/7. Online OS page states its 'in-Production' and Phone OS states it is in build stage. Which status do I trust?

I'd go with the phone status for accuracy. Today was the first time I saw any update on the website since passing through pre-production.

Hmm you know I always get on the spot updates on the website for all my orders its strange how a lot of you are getting these largely delayed updates.
