hmmm so mine was in boxing for a day, does that mean it was built locally in the states? It was ordered 3/31 with initial ship date of 4/26 however it shipped yesterday, delivered today, unfortunately i'm out of the country for the next 2 weeks

so i can't play with my new toy until i get back home, assuming it's not stolen from my building's storage room, had to call my doorman and make sure that no one "claims" the packages

Sorry to hear that Diesel. How long is the next two weeks gonna be for ya?

stevecc, did you say you had 2nd day air or 3-5 day ground?
Just curious based on your estimated delivery...
Thanks,
J

i chose the free 3-5 day delivery... if it is coming from Tennesse, then it will take a good 4 days to ship to Caleeeforniahhh.

I guess i went the cheap and long wait route...

Cool... Yeah, I got 2nd day air and live in Virginia, but since we are still sitting in boxing and I leave for DC monday I am not banking on it at ALL...

Talked to an american dell person on the phone today. Said my 9100 is in transit to the states. Third day it said boxing. Ordered 4/8/2004, est ship date 4/27/2004. I think they are gonna beat that ship date. Funny thing is yesterday i configured the same notebook, and the est ship date woudl be 4/26/2004, not sure what thats all about. Oh well hopefully i will have it next week.

For some reason my system has been in pre-production since Tuesday and still is according to the web site. The phone however says it's in the build stage. Even funnier is I had a live person say that it was still in pre-prod and a chat person who said it was in build. I have no clue what to believe.

i would guess whatever is farthest along is the correct one, as things tend to not get updated more often than they are updated incorrectly.

AND ALAS.... After all this time I am finally "InTransit"..... Funny thing is my main Order Status page still says "InProduction" but if you click on the "InProduction" stamp the new window generated says InTransit "Its On Its Way".... Hope it has been worth the wait...
For those of you new to this thread I have been in boxing since Wed Morning, so it lasted 2 days for me.....
Thanks,
J

Oh well, i wont get it by tom for sure, which is when i really wanted it for a trip. So whatever, should be here next week sometime.

JRESURF.... I walked into work this morning ... and voila! the XPS here !...

Also, it says on one of the boxes (computer made in malaysia)

I will try and find time today to unbox, and do a detailed report.

So basically it only took one day after I got the IN Transit notification.

The tracking numbers do appear now on the dell site, and it state 'en route'.

My guess is that you will get it monday.

Just called and the DELL site gave me the tracking numbers but UPS does not have a status on them yet, hopefully soon they will. What I do not get is how could DELL give me tracking numbers that UPS does not have status on yet???
How does she look, run, and feel?

Just called Dell. My 9100 is 'in transit'. Usually you would assume that carrier would pick it up from dell manufacturing site but thats not the case. Dell takes the system(s) to a carrier location ( which seems to be UPS in my case). The tracking no will be generated after the carrier assigns one and Dell uploads it in the system.

These will be the longest 3-5 days I would ever have
Ordered on: Apr/7
In Production: Apr/7
In Boxing: Apr/13
In Transit:Apr/16

Well, man am I getting alot of work done with this new XPS, I've already got 20Gigs of stuff loaded, and the machine works flawlessly. Screen is beautiful, machine runs nice and cool and QUIET. I've heard the fans twice at most.

I've run 3DMark and Aquamark and a whole bunch of ATI demos, everything is great. 3351 on 3DMARK 03, 27k on Aquamark 03.

Build quality is excellent, ergonomics are excellent, this machine rocks. I can't get over how nice this 19x12 display is... I'll never go to CRT again

Anyways, enjoy your wait !
