Off to the beach for the weekend, back Sunday hoping the laptop arrives before Monday night for my trip.... Fingers are crossed, come on UPS....
Enjoy the system and have a good weekend....
No internet at the beach, like anyone needs it there, so I will check the tracking numbers upon my return...
Thanks
J

PS - BTW just for those ordering... Check your UPS status when you get a tracking number from dell.... I Just saw UPS pick up my order based on the STATUS from UPS and it is listed as:
" Service Type: GROUND DEL CONF "
and I ordered 2nd Day air on Dell's site... Just rather odd, you would think the UPS status would reflect such status...

"UPDATE".....I ordered my i9100 on the 13th of this month and it shipped on the 16th. Not bad!! I did customize the machine so I was hoping that didn't slow it down any. Looks like it didn't. Now I can't wait to start kicking some serious butt in Counter Strike!

Ordered mine the 8th of this month and it just shipped out today, the 17th. woohoo not sure how that works.

Here is exactly as the delievery went:
Thursday night my system went into "InTransit Mode" but the dell site did not list Tracking numbers on their site. However, the phone status check did. So I checked the UPS numbers against the UPS site and they came up listed as "no status". I found out this was because UPS had not actually picked up and originally scanned the packages. So Sunday night when I got back I noticed both UPS and DELL site had the tracking numbers and listed an ON TIME delivery of April 19th. Checked against Monday morning and UPS has it listed in an "InTransit w/ Out for Delievery" status. I am just waiting to get it now...
Thanks,
Jed

Thanks, Jed. Hope you get your Dell today. Do post your review/pics.

I'm offset by a day. In my case, web order status page still does not list tracking no but phone order status does mention it. Hopefully I will get my 9100 tomm.

Typing this message on my new IXPS, what a system. And yes fellas the 100 GB hard is a tad slower than the I8600 I had with 60 GB 72K drive.. Everyone else you were right I can tell a difference... But going to wait a while before ordering the other drive, its not all that bad.. And oh yeah, I think the skulls are pretty damn cool... Full review and pics later, I took a TON... My wife thinks I am a freak because I did the whole pics of the box, taking it out, and so on....
More later,
Jed

congrats jresurf!.... you have to love that screen eh?

How is your desktop overall performance? you find a little sluggish? (alot of hard drive activity?)

You should run the common benchmarks (3dmark2003, quake 3, far cry) and see if you get any issues. I have had several locks/freezes on Star trek elite force 2 .

I'm going to try an updated driver though.

Well almost a week later and no activity. "inproduction" is highlighted, but it hasn't even reached "kitting." I'm wondering what the hell is up with that. It immediately went to "in production" after the order, so that means no activity for almost a week. Ah well...

Cool!

Also, you're making me feel good that I went with the 72k drive instead of the extra space on the 100 (please don't take this the wrong way, not trying to rub anything in or pull and "I tole ya so..." just good to get a real world confirmation of results.)

Crap now I'm worried my 5400rpm 60gig drive is gonna suck and be slow. I'm so used to a 7200rpm drive in my desktop, I hope this doesn't blow. I just couldn't afford to spend the extra $100+ on a drive that only had 60gig just for 7200rpm. Hopefully it won't be too bad. If it is, I'll cross my fingers that I can find a replacement on ebay pretty cheap.

Just got upto DC and plan on working on a weblink to post all the pictures I took of this beast. The hard drive is slower, but not too noticably and not as much as I expected. Ok, so it took me an extra 3-4 min when transfering over 40 gig worth of MP3 and digital pictures... Not too big a deal and I am only going to do that once. Where do you go to get 3dmark2003 stevecc? Left my games at home for this trip to DC because I know if I brought any I would get NOOOOO work done... Be back Friday for all that fun. Going to work on the website for the pictures... Will post that under the reviews/pic section.. Stevecc, man that sucks to hear about your screen freezes, I will check that on mine over the weekend... Hey how do you check to see what model monitor you got?
Thanks and good luck to all receiving your systems, your gonna love em...
Thanks
Jed

Go to https://support.dell.com/productselection.aspx and enter your service tag number, then select Go. Then click on the Original Configuration link on the left hand side and you'll get a listing of all the parts in your machine, including OEMs. Note: You will need to setup an account if you don't already have one.

Congrats!

I think I may have a bad copy of Star Trek elite force 2, there are alot of scratches on the first disk. I just tried to re-install it and I had alot of issues, and it won't install any longer.

So it could just be a bad game, since all the other games I have tried work fine.

SLOTHER, thank you!!! You have answered some questions I have had for a loooong time... That is the maker of the 100 GB hard drive:
Hard Drive, 100GB, 9.5MM, 4.2K, FUJITSU, V50

Also, I found out I have the:
Liquid Crystal Display, WUXGA, N-SPWG, 15.4, Samsung, V2

Is the SAMSUNG the better monitor??? Which is the monitor everyone tries to get on their WUXGA display? I cannot remember if it was samsung or sharp???
Just curious, thanks!!
Jed
