Dell's Infamous "InProduction" Status.... Question? - Page 40

From what I have seen their order update site isnt kept updated properly. Some people are getting their orders on time, some early, and some late. In my case early. Not that I'm complaining but they need to do a better job so the customer knows whats going on exactly. The fact that they are across the International Date Line probably adds to the confusion.

I'm in the same boat. I'm leaving for vacation on Sunday, but my laptop is scheduled to be delivered Monday.

Make that three people in the same situation, although I may have it resolved.

Two reps said it would be here today, I call UPS this morning and get tomorrow. So I chatted with Dell and they're trying to arrange so I can pick it up at my local carrier today.

I called Dell and all the woman would tell me is Monday and that Saturday and Sunday aren't business days and there is no way for me to get it earlier. I don't mind if I have to drive 30 minutes to my local carrier tomorrow, I just want it before I leave town.

Right now I'm just hoping that it gets into town today. It left Nashville at 10:30 last night, and I'm only about 3 hours from there. If it makes it to the local UPS place before 7 I could just run over there and pick it up.

*crosses fingers*

Mine just arrived an hour ago. So far everything looks good and working as it should. I dont see any dead pixels and the picture quality is looking fantastic. Right now I'm giving it some burn-in time and doing some minor testing. Later on I'll put it through some more vigorous testing.

I hope everyone gets theirs soon and in mint condition!

Yeah, I'm going camping starting Sunday and coming back Wednesday/Thursday. Then I'll be home for about another 1 and a half weeks and off to college the 29th. It wouldn't kill me if it came while I was gone camping, but it'd be a hassel. Can neighbors except these things for me while I'm gone? I know I've done it for them with similar things, but who knows.
Either way, my 6000 appears to be one of the slower ones, just checked and it's still In production for the 8th day going on 9. So I doubt it'll ship before I leave. I just hope it gets here with about a week to go before I leave for good. I want to mess around with it for a few days before I go so I can find any major hiccups if they're there. Because heck.... I hate spending money, and when I spend a lot of it I get very picky. I know there is only so much one can expect, but that feeling sucks when you're slightly dissapointed. I guess that's what I deserve though for putting off this important purchase all summer long.
Good luck to all. The Dell gods will shape our fates.

Mine just went into In Production, after a 2 week hassle that caused Dell to cancel my order 3 times.

My printer though has already been shipped.

So, how long does "Testing" take?

My system has been in the Testing stage for two whole days now. How long does this stage typically take? I would expect it to be the same amount of time for all similar laptops (mine if a 6000), but I've searched the subject and it seems that some systems have blown past this stage rather quickly.

So, is there a firm test period, or does this fluctuate as well? Thanks in advance.

Well, my system has now been in testing for three days now. I presume they are backed up in the testing department.

The time it takes to load the factory software and then shut down.

i bought my laptop friday morning 6AM pacific time and it went all the way through testing (ie there was a check next to it) by 9PM the same night. It has however been stuck in the boxing step since than...

Damn, I ordered my system on August 4th, and it's still in the Testing stage at this point. I am really getting frustrated with Dell at this point.

I ordered my 9300 on August 2nd, it spent 3 days on "Pre-Production", blew through "Production" all the way to boxing in about 18 hours or so, spent 3 days in "Boxing", took 2 days to ship via UPS, and got to my door 8 days after I ordered it.

If it took that long to get my system, I would have been giving Dell a call every couple hours complaining about it. Not that I'm saying you should, but it might help, and you might get some concessions out of it.

But hang in there, the wait will be worth it, or at least it was for me.

I ordered on Wednesday 07-27 around 9:45PM it stayed on testing for 2 days, and got it on 08-02, it took about one week to receive my system.

Oh cool, I just checked on the status of my XPS and it shipped this morning! Estimated delivery has been bumped up a week to 8/17 through 8/19. So it is possible that I may receive the lappy one week after having placed the order! I'm happy! Anyone know where the dell distribution center is in the San Francisco Bay Area?

This is really weird.

Long story, every tracking website in the world for my order says it's only at the Billing Information Received.

It was supposed to be delivered Friday, but it was then scheduled to come today. Guaranteed by Dell.

Well, it still has Billing Information Received at UPS and In Transit To Local Carrier at Dell.

But I have a neighbor that works at my local UPS, and she said the driver has it and is on his way to my house today.

Who to believe...

I think the Dell workers are playing BF2 on mine...

Did you get Next Day shipping? Mine was scheduled to deliver Friday, then I got into a fight with them and they gave me a $75 coupon and guaranteed it would be here today. It's 5:20 PM here and I'm still waiting.
