Well, I got my laptop today. It seems to be running ok, but I will end up probably doing the reboot.

Mine was orginally estimated to ship on 2-15, they finished up early and shipped on 2-10. Then it was scheduled to be delivered 2-13(today), then i checked back later that night and it said the dreaded rescheduled, and now it's supposed to be here tomorrow 2-14, it's in the local ups distribution warehouse about an hour from me.

it's no biggie though, because i ordered my ram late (friday morning) and it wont be here until wednesday (2-15), and being in a performance arts (music) school, i'm pretty much busy until the weekend anyway, so it's cool, i guess.

Mine shipped the 11th but UPS tracking just says "Billing Information Received" still. I'm hoping mine gets here within Dell's predicted 15-17

I can handle that! no problem at all! Thanks Dell Dudes!
Mine was the same way. I was gearing up for a long wait and was pleasantly suprised.

testing as of today, I'm almost done I can't wait.

all I can say is wow I just check again and it said it shipped

Just for the people who order and can't wait like myself, the whole process before the computer gets to your door is typically a week. My laptop went from pre-order process to boxing in 10 hours (may have been faster than normal), then to shipped in 2 days. It took 6 days to get to me, and I had ground shipping. Just to let you know...

ordered mine on 2/24 and it went in boxing like a couple hours after ordering, they must be having a shortage of cardboard, or perhaps there's a new guy boxing mine and he just graduated from origami school and taking his time making sure mine is wrapped in cardboard the likes that man has never seen.

Just FYI. Dell recently announced closure of their Austin (Texas) and Ireland production facilities.

They broke ground on a 5th production plant in Malaysia that will take over the production output of those 2 facilites and then some.

"Boxing" of all orders will mean they are currently en-route from Malaysia to Tennessee (for US customers). When they tell you "it's on the loading ramp backed up waiting on a truck", they are full of crap. It is just that your machine didn't make it into the previous shipment and had to put into the "rush" line to make another and get it over to the US for distribution.

Dell is converting the Austin Texas facility into purely a Spare Parts and Repair Depot. This will move some of their operations out of the DFW and Houston areas.

Expect build times and service turn around to increase while all Boxing stages will now take 1-2 days before actual shipping occurs.

I ordered my 6000 on 2/20 nad received it on 2/27. That was with 3-5 day shipping. Pretty quick.
Godsend, did shipping with Dell's selected carrier actually take 3-5 days? I had 3-5 shipping and got it in 36 hours from UPS.
Dell shows it shipped Friday the 24th, I received it on Monday the 27th
post #935 of 1048
That's good time. 1 day to build, 2 days to get it in the US, 1 night in Tennessee, and 3 days to you. 6.5 days start to finish.

I ve ordered my 9400 at March 2nd. The first announced delivery date was March 13th. Now I received an E-Mail telling me April 25th!!!

Support tells me, the reason is shortage of GeForce7800 in Production.

Does anyone else have such delays??
Ok, I purchased my Inspiron B130 on Sunday. With absolutely no upgrades. I had to go the inexpensive route and bypass the additions. After a delay with my credit account it was in production going from kitting to boxing on tuesday. It is still in boxing. I selected the 3-5 day option, now I'm wishing I woulda paid the extra to have it arrive faster. How much longer do you think it will take to arrive here in California? I wish I'd get mine as quick as 36 hrs!

First off I'd like to thank everyone on these forums for helping me decide to buy a Dell for the first time.

As of my order of my new E1705 on 03-06-06 I'm "In Production" and scheduled for a delivery date of mid April.

WOW thats one heck of a wait! I hope they find some parts for my laptop quick cause I'm not sure I can make it to April!
Yeah I hate that it takes so long. I contact support yesterday to find out why my ship date wasn't til the 15th with an arrival of the 20th-22nd. I was then upgraded to next day for free, with my $24 refunded back to my account. The waiting game continues anyway.

Ordered a Dell E1705 with Geforce 7800 Go on 3-2-2006. I was at first confident that it would ship today as I chatted with a salesman and they said there was no delay; unfortunately, I was informed that instead of being shipped today that it had been delayed by one week with a new *estimated* ship date of 3-17-2006.

That sounds great on paper, but could this *estimated* ship date stuff get into a vicious cycle where is continuously pushed further and further back? Are there any other companies that sell laptops that can be delivered more soon with a graphics cards equal to or superior to Geforce 7800 GO that you all know of?

P.S. I was really looking forward to the new laptop, and I don't want to play the indefinite waiting game.
