Intel 45nm CPUs Price List. - Page 2

Remember the old saying ... keep waiting for the next new thing, and you'll be waiting forever.*

The new stuff coming out looks good, but I'm still guessing it might be the end of Q1 2008 before we see it.

*Glad I got my stuff now, cause I will be able to rationalize the new stuff by the time it comes out.

That is definitely one good part about building rather than buying, without the boxes of the primary products it's much harder to sell off the old products. Otherwise upgrading would be cheap. The difference between hardware would probably only be $250 for a Penryn processor upgrade and 9 series card from what I have now. But I didn't build

But, you know enough to do your own build, so upgrading will be easy for you. You'll probably be better off skipping the first versions of the new stuff, and waiting for Rev 2.

Yeah the upgrades shall be easy, it's getting the cash that's the hard part

Also, I probably won't upgrade my current PC until Nehalem or later, I may go with a 9800GTS if my 8800GTS can't handle Crysis on basically DX10 high settings. Or would you say I should wait until 10 series/9.9 for a new GPU?

I think you're right to wait and see how your system does with Crysis and other games. It may be just fine.

Deciding how long to wait for an upgrade depends on how well your current system does, and that little thing called cash! You're probably currently in the top 10% or better of PC builds, so that ain't all bad.

Yeah you're right. I'll just hold out as long as I can and if I have cash, I upgrade, if I don't, I just switch up the settings and deal with medium if need be

Intel's Extreme Edition "Yorkfield" processor will launch on November 12; sub-3.0 GHz variants will launch in the first half of January 2008.

Intel’s latest roadmap reveals upcoming additions to its desktop processor lineup. Unfortunately, anybody awaiting a straightforward naming convention will need to hold out a bit longer as the processor numbers for desktop Yorkfield and Wolfdale chips complicate the naming situation even further.

The Intel Q9550, Q9450 and Q9300 will be the first of the mainstream Yorkfield offerings. At $266, the 45nm 2.50 GHz Q9300 replaces the 65nm 2.4 GHz Q6600.

Q9450 is going to be amazing.

I'm already saving up for it, hopefully in Jan.
I'll probably spring for one of those in about 12-18 months

* waiting for the Q9450 *

Just about every review site has gotten 4ghz on air with minimal effort. Basically upping the multi, adding voltage when need be. I've seen it as high as 4.3ghz. They are going to sell like hotcakes.

when are they being released?
