Just screen, keyboard and touchpad

Does anyone make a laptop without the motherboard, harddrives, cpu. In other words, something as cool as the alienware or sager, with just a real nice hig res LCD screen, the keyboard, and touchpad (along with a mouseport on back). Then this this would just have a nice extra long cable about 10' that would break out into DVI/VGA and USB to plug into your favorite SFF or cube PC.

Looking at hypersonic and alienware, it looks like it would take almost $4000 to get this in a notebook, where you could build a nice desktop cheaper with better video cards.

what would be the point of that? Just buy a nice 24" UXGA LCD, a nice mouse and keyboard and it is the same thing......I'm really confused.

He wants something more portable than individual components.
KVM consoles are similar they make them up to 20" display size might look at those. There is a manufacturer that makes a laptop designed to interface with swiches and remote systems (it has no internal workings of it's own) but I've had trouble finding it.

I actually thought about that angle. Buying one of them metal briefcases, a flat screen monitor, a keyboard and touchpad. Take the monitor stand off and mount it in the briefcase with keyboard and mouse, then tiewrapping the three wires into one. This would probably be too homemade. I would rather just buy something already made.

This would also eliminate all the heat issues with high end laptops. I bought an alienware m9700 and this thing has been nothing but grief. This thing overheats and crashes before I can even get into any game.

Just tried googling KVM consoles and KVM gaming consoles and came up with nothing but netwoek admin crap for dealing with racks and such.

It would be cheaper for some knockoff company to by arima or clevo or even alienware laptop enclosures, screens, keyboards and touchpads and create the "KVM gaming console" to bring to lan parties.

This is not cheap but something like what would be needed.
