Hey All-

I punched my big monitor into the back of my asus m6n, which has a vid out for my radeon 9600 64meg card. Its wierd, it wont put anything but 640 by 480 at 8 bit color. I tried having both screens on, or just the monitor. Change settings and they just dont take effect. Any thoughts? 6.14.10.6404 is the driver version.

I'm using 6.14.10.6430 (latest) driver, I can set my secondary to 1280x1024x32, but it slows down everything to a crawl, even the mouse pointer :/

Kinetic-

You have both monitors on when this happens? Or just the external?

I dont need both, I just cant get the external to do anything by itself. Wierd.

Might try them new drivers later.

In CRT-only mode, it works just fine, but my monitor doesnt support the widescreen resolutions so scrolling is needed to see the entire desktop.

Hi Eric, you should be able to

Right click on the desktop
Properties -> Settings ->

You should see two monitors 1, 2 ( 1 is the LCD, 2 is the CRT)
Select the second one, and select

Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor

Then highlight the second monitor, and change the Scrren resolution higher.

This should work for you with any of the radeon drivers that are out there.
To change the refresh rate, you need to select the second monitor, and then
Advanced -> Monitor

You may also need to change the "highest allowed resolution" for the external monitor, also in the advanced options
Advanced -> Displays -> Monitors -> Attributes.

Personnaly, I find the little button to switch back and forth from/to LCD/CRT to be a little useless. It doesn't really do the good job.
