I9400/E1705 Max Ram?

Thread Starter
Does anybody know a way to get the Inspiron E1705/9400 to accept more memory? Dell says the max is 2gb but an XPS m1710 has 4gb. Is it just a matter of flashing the BIOS? Or should I be able to pop 4gb in it and that's it? I want to make sure I can get it to accept it before I buy it. Thanks

3.25 is the max you can use within any OS with the 9400/M1710

my god this subject has been beating to dead over and over again. yes the system can take 4GB ram, but bios will only allow 3.25GB to see by any OS, so regardless 32 bit, 64bit or gazillion bit. search the forums, this subject has been discuss a million time

Want more then 4GB support ? get a real system

I'm pretty sure he didn't come here for your abuse via keyboard. Get a real system? Duuuhhhhrrrrr, I have 8 gigs of RAM and shitty grammar... These forums are for people to get help, not get flamed. That being said, ZZpulp is right. 3.25GB is all it will recognize, so just get 3 gigs and call it a day.

maybew they should make this a sticky lol

Well you'd think that E1705/M1710 max RAM is one of those questions that's been asked enough to be sticky. There should be a stickied troubleshooting guide for overheating, max upgrades, benchmarks for a given setup, etc. too. Do we contact someone, or does the Admin do it when they see fit?

The Mods make the decision I presume

hey Mr. Smart Pants, I answer this question a million time before http://www.notebookforums.com/thread194699.html so take a chill pill, not all people speak perfect English, not all of us born as native English speaking language, so get of my back about my English, I had post in this forum before about my not so perfect English. The respond to original poster was just a joke. Not only that I even answer his question on my post, not like I told him to go the f**k away

OK, I apologize about the grammar thing. Didn't know English wasn't your native language. We were all new to this world at one point in time, and there's no sticky for this subject.

That's fine, you didn't know, I was up set because there are some people out there think they are just perfect with the English, and alway had something to say about the none-native English person when he/she make a mistake in their grammar

I'm not here to badger anyone about where they are from or what language they speak. I ONLY speak english. If I were to go to a German or Spanish forum, I'd be shit out of luck. I have no beef with you Xccess21.

OK, I've posted a guide on frequently asked questions. Hopefully it doesn't suck and can get a sticky.
