Im sorry for my bad english, yes im will upgrade my laptop with newer components?
my original prcessor is a T2400, and i will take a T7400
post #5 of 16
yes, it will work but there would be virtually no performance difference. THe only thing you would gain would be 64 bit functionality.

Upgrading to 4GB is fine, be aware you will only be able to use 3.25GB because of chipset limitations.

I also will be upgrading to 4 GB 3.25 is still good enough for me

Yes, The T7400 will work in your 9400. There will be no problem switching the two processors.

The last asks, witch need i? one with 479 pins or 478 pins?
478 pins

t74 is merom

it is better than the t24

the performance difference between the T2400-->T7400 is minimal & the only notable difference is the Merom being a 64 bit proc. If you don;t need 64 bit processing it's really a waste of money to go from 2.0--->2.16

you allready said that. -from pc perspective: In our testing, the Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 mobile CPU has some significant improvements over the previous Core Duo processor. The biggest gains are seen in floating point and integer operations where some tests showed improvements of more than double! One of the short-comings of theCore Duo was it's weakness in crunching numbers, but no longer. The Core 2 Duo T7400 has shown itself to be a beast when it comes to chowing down those operations. Memory performance also showed significant gains, but not on the same scale as the CPU's ability to do math operations. Thanks to a 4MB cache and smart memory access, most of our memory tests showed a nice jump. Other applications had smaller, but noticeable gains including our media tests and gaming.

I've had a 1710 w/T2600 & one with a T7600G & the rest of the configuration was the same. synthetic benches are one thing, real performance numbers are quite another. Bar graphs & charts look cool, but don't mean much when you actually start doing real-world testing. I never noticed a lick of difference betwen the 2 at stock speeds.

I was just saying in terms of performance, you are not going to notice a difference. it's not like going from a Dothon 2.0 to a Merom 2.16.

I still have a T2600 in my 1405. I'm not saying there is not a performance difference in some apps, I am just saying that it's not noticeable for 90% of the users out there & i could think of better things to spend the money on than a proc upgrade that you aren't going to really see in terms of quantifiable performance.

he's going from a 1.83 core duo -> 2.13 core 2 duo, sol; i think you thought he had the 2ghz model not the 1.83ghz model. Considering the difference in clockspeed and difference between core duo and core 2 duo, there should be a decent performance improvement.

yeah oops didn't notice that lol
