Dual boot/bios problem...

Hey guys,

first and foremost this is the laptop that i have...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...SUS-_-34220127

and this is what ive done

basically my intention was to have Vista Business and XP on the same drive as dual boot. simple as really... well thats what i thought.

So i partition the hdd into 2 80gb partitions and then go ahead and install vista. Installs fine and without any problems.

So i then go and install XP on the second partition and it does its thing and when it rebooted itself after installing the OS it failed to load again.

the intial Asus logo and little Bringggg noise it makes came up and then it would just keep bringggg(ing)

so i thought i'll try bios and reset the boot from CD to boot from Hdd.

so when i try and load bios i get the same problem... it doesnt load

the only thing that i can of that i could possibley do is reset bios? is this what i should do or does someone know what i should do?

any help would be great and i really need to get this fixed

Thanks guys...

if you have any more questions then i will happily answer them

Hmmm.. you might want to try taking the hard drive out of the notebook and then booting into BIOS. If you can do that, then you can try your CD boot method next (after re-inserting the hard drive, of course) and see where it goes from there.

If you can't get into your BIOS that way either...
there should be a tiny hole on the bottom of the notebook with a symbol like this next to it: >*< That's the BIOS reset button. All it should do is revert to the last BIOS you had before your current one. However, if you're on your initial BIOS version (you've never flashed a new BIOS), then it will completely ERASE your current BIOS and you'll be totally stuck and you'll then need to send the computer to Asus so they can put a BIOS back on the motherboard.

Hey,

Right i'll take the Hdd out and then replace it. i'll see what happens and then if that doesnt work...

i only have one bios on there. so say i reset the bios and sent it to Asus how much would that cost me?

would it be a pretty penny?

well going to take out the hdd and see if i can sort it that way.

Thanks,

i'll keep ya's posted!

Since your BIOS is the initial one, I'd talk to Asus before resetting it. They may have some ideas on how to fix it without a reset.
