darkloki is right, usually I gauge my next computer build/buy on what game I play the most. If it can play that game at decent settings with a decent framerate I'm happy.

2999 base price is high, but the 3500 dollar one looks more worth it if you are already gonna sink 3k in.

I believe the only difference is a Blu Ray Drive for the extra 599.99... To me... totally not worth it...

Ill just pick up a drive later of ebay or somthing if i want one... I dont want to go BluRay or HD until one dies... Its going to be crazy with both BluRay and HD competing... Damn it! Now why I go to block buster and all the HD's are out I gotta rent BluRay... That means I need both systems.... ggggrrrrrr

It's too bad they're so danged ugly (imo). The precision m6300 is intriguing though, I've been hoarding cash waiting for 88xx cards to come out so I could get an m9750... However, if I can flash the bios is an m6300 to an m1730, then pop two 88xx cards in there when they become available, I'd be extremely happy. Hopefully someone will make one condensed thread about m1730/m6300 mods so I don't have to bookmark 19 different ones again.

M1730 and M6300 are totally different machine I think.

M6300's current GPU blows as of now w/ no upgrade options.

Isnt the m6300 the same or similar chasis of the m1710

If you look at different pics on the web (especially this one German site..but i cant seem to find it anymore), the 1730 is pretty nice looking machine. I think in person it will be quite impressive. The pre release pics on the 1730 blew!

Below are a pre-release photo, and a current photo from dell.com. The prerelease photo looks like cheap red plastic where the current dell photo looks like awsome...

i hope thats not sarcasm because its abit much... ive owned a ton of different laptops and destops over the years including dell's, alienware, compaq and HP also i have repaired every brand under the sun including MACS which are a pain to take apart and fix...every company has its perks and downfalls... even alienware does...the only thing i hate is that microsoft is being gay with saying that the 8xxx cards out right now wont work with DX10.1 that they are working on which sucks...

I can't really decide what I think on this. The m6300 doesnt look to have a numberpad, which the m1730 has, but it does have 800mhz processor, which the m1710 does not have. Thus, I tend to think it may not be build off of the same platform as either of those... Perhaps Dell decided to make Vostro instead? I really don't know, but I will definately be looking into everything I can possibly think of (short of buying one of each, which I'd love to do were I rich enough) to figure out what kind of parts swappage we can do in the future.

LOL, at least I can take my XPS to work without looking like a 10-year-old kid (turning the lights off, of course)...I'm kidding, kind of, of course...AW sh!t looks cool for the LAN party, but I gotta do more than just game on the thang, and I can't haul around (or afford) two laptops all the time. The XPS is thus kind of a mullet-laptop, I guess...turning business into party with the flick of a swtich, yo.

BTW,do you reckon if I went to the AW boards and posted in a thread about "who's buying a M9750" that the 9750 was ugly,and the AW support is pretty much non existant[which it is where I live]....I would get called for trolling ?......I think we all know the answer to that,especially the OP of this thread.
