Wrong power adapter makes CPU slow???

Hey everyone, I have a e1705 and my power adapter brick stopped working. Im using my friend's dell adapter, but I think its lower in wattage than my original one. It is not charging my battery, but it is keeping my laptop on.

My computer is running sluggishly... and its stuck at 1 GHZ instead of 1.86.

this is cause of the lower wattage power brick right?

I did have a problem with my computer and have been workin on the motherboard. If its not the power brick, is there anything i can use to see if my motherboard and processor is fully functional?

its the brick. If you'll notice when you restart the computer, it will tell you that it will not charge the battery and it will also slow down the computer. Just replace your adapter with a new 90w or better yet, a 130w since you have to replace anyway.

As kind of a side note, if you are still under warranty, dell will replace your adapter for free.

The reason the system is so sluggish is because the CPU FSB has been reduced (because of the power brick).
