Mobile Gaming notebook

Really new to this game so please be gentle with me. I am currently running a Sony VAIO PCG-FX702 Which if anybody knows it is a little on the old side. Time for an upgrade. Been looking for a little while now and much as I try to lern what it is all about, I seem to have gotten left behind since the days of the 486 machines, just get baffled that I can't find what I want, or a straight answer from the muppets in the showrooms.

A little about my current macine, 60 second battery life, 12min boot up time, and the most complicated program it can run these days at anything resembling full speed is minesweeper.

What I am liiking for:-
Bluetooth
Wifi G and N
2+ gig ram
100gig+ 7500rpm hdd
2.2+ Ghz core 2 duo
4 hours+ battery life
12"-15.5" wxga+ wsxga screen (17" not really portable enough for me)
Builtin webcam
Built in mic
Fingerprint scanner
Futureproof dedicated graphics (128M pref)(thats good right?)
Lan 10/100
2-3 USB ports
Headphone and mic jacks
A keyboard actually designed for typing (NOT like new VAIO flat key crap)

Wish list:-
9pin 232,485,422 serial connector (For work although I believe you can get a USB adapter now)
Firewire
Decent speakers

May look like an odd list of requirements but I work offshore, I need to take my world with me in flatpack form, that includes video conferencing with the missus to keep in touch, Playing games and DVD's to keep myself sane, and sitting around for hours in airports going insane.

I have seen a few machines that seem to get close to what I want like the Toshiba Tecra M9 and the Lenovo T61 but fall at one hurdle or another, some have suggested the likes of Alienware (Too dedicated a Games machine by the looks of it) Dell XPS (Just too expensive for what it is) And nobody seems to advertise battery life any more.

The bottom line is that I need a future proof notebook, capable of being away from the outlet for a good period of time, great at playing games and dvd's, really connectable.

And my budget for this venture is around the $3000 mark

Can anyone out there point me to anything worthwile?

Yeah Duke gave you a link to probably your best option.

What you want....doesn't exist.specifically relating the graphics power to the battery life and size you would like.

The best compromise IMO is something like, 15.4" asus G1s or 14.1" F8sv or 15.4" dell 1520 something along those lines for best battery v size v graphics power and you will probably find any of these a huge improvement in all area's over what you have.

Nothing with pc's is futureproof...unfortunately,especially,notebooks.

Along the Asus line, I'd highly recommend the V1S over the G1S- it has better build quality, spill-proof keyboard, fingerprint scanner, and modular bay so you can have 2 batteries in at the same time (which will get you 4-5 hours battery life total- 3 hours or so from just the main). Other than the serial port and "decent speakers" (from what I've read the speakers in the V1 are kinda "meh"), it's got everything you need.

Also been reccomended a compal notebook, to me it looks exactly the same as a Sager, this is getting sooooo confusing again.

Ok then maybe not futureproof but something that is going to last me for at least a couple of years before I HAVE to replace it.

As for battery life, I only really need that for checking emails and keeping in touch from the airport, Don't expect any notebook processor and video card to munch away at full whack on gaming and still give good battery life.

Anything is an improvement on what I have, anything that doesn't require a key to wind up the clockwork mechinism every sixty seconds is an improvement but what I am looking for is something that covers all my criteria and will last me as long as this has without falling apart or becoming too outdated. Maybe I am throwing down the gauntlet a bit but I can't be the only user in the world that wants all these things on one package can I. Its not like I have a tiny budget is it?

Dell Precision 4300 with everything but the kitchen sink, 9-cell battery and 6-cell additional battery, 4 year warranty 3 year lo-jack, Nvidia Quadro 360 256m dedicated 512 shared 15.4 inch screen, upek fingerprint reader. 3 usb and RS232 port, gig ethernet, headphone and mic, bluetooth, N wireless and firewire. Only thing missing is the camera and the keyboard might be considered Soso but I like it.

I would agree with rocksteady having just sold my M65 [predecessor to M4300]....it was 16 months old, still looked new and still had very stiff hinges after fairly hard portable use.It wasn't a gaming machine by any stretch of the imagination, but I managed to run every new game out on it,in a couple of cases,at the minimum resolution, but they still ran ok[the M4300 or latitude D830 or XPS M1330 would be better]

The latitude D830 is a cheaper and identicle option [to the M4300]barring the bios enabled openGL optimisations and screen trim with a graphics card based on the nvidia 8400GS like the M4300 or the XPS M1330 and as such won't be playing bioshock or many other newer games at native res but should give battery life in the region of what your looking for in a package thats extremely well built.
