Hey guys,i'm a total newbie when it comes to Laptops.I have a Sony VAIO VGN-N17G,and it comes with 512 MB of RAM.Now,I want to be able to multitask with Photoshop and a couple of other apps open which would require more than 1 GB of RAM.

My problem is that I dont know how to read the sticker thats on the RAM.The sticker says 512 MB 2Rx16 PC2-4200S-444-12.Now,How do I unravel the mystery of this code?

Someone,please help me!

Google search comes up with the RAM as a Hynix brand. Any SODIMM PC2-4200 RAM will be compatible with your current stick. Search around eBay or craigslist for the RAM. I found one for a good price but it is in Canada. http://vancouver.craigslist.org/sys/439540806.html

PC2-4200 is the rated speed of the RAM. It is how someone can determine how fast the RAM is. For more information on RAM http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR2_SD...tion_standards

Check eBay, it seems to have good priced Hynix RAM
