I ordered my 3880 around september of 2005 and have been relatively happy with it.
Was working on a project at school for about 3 hours and decided to go home. Put my laptop in my backpack like normal and got home about 10 min later.
Turned on my laptop and walked totge kitchen to get a drink. I come back to see that there is about a 2'' wide black streak from the very top of the screen to the very bottom of the screen. Everything else on the screen is fine just looks like you turned off about 2'' of the screen in the very middle of it.
I rebooted the machine and saw that even in the BIOS it was still having the same issue so I know it isn't a software issue.
When I first got the thing 2 years ago it had a problem with the screen and I sent it back to get the screen replaced. Not sure if this has anything to do with it but it looks like it is almost in the same exact place.
It is not a video card problem as I can plug an external monitor up to the laptop and it displays correctly without the vertical dead spot.
Something else that it possiblely could be is a lose connection in the screen cable that is connecting to the video card.
So as for getting it fixed what should I do? Is my only option to RMA it back to sager?
