Hi,

I have a dell 1520 with a 8600gt card and in windows vista 32 it keeps freezing the screen and I have to reboot the pc to make it work again.
I tried with many drivers and still the same.
Anyone has a fix for this problem ?
Thank's !

I don't have that problem at all. I wonder what could be wrong with your laptop?

hi notebookforums comunity,

the problem seems to be the powermizer component of the nvidia drivers, and here come the strange thing :
on batery testing with 3dmark i don't have any problems even seting powermizer at maximum performance but on AC it's freezes even on power saving, so at minimum.
the temporary fix for me was to set from win registry PowerMizerLevel at 1 and then disable the Nvidia Display Driver Service so PowerMizer can't figure out if i'm on batery or AC, and nou I run with the powermizer on maximum performance and batery settings.
Anyone has a better idea ?

I will now give my laptop specs too :
DELL 1520 p4 fd
Intel Core 2 Duo T7300
2GB RAM
HDD 160gb
NVIDIA 8600GT

Hi all,

it's a month now that i have my laptop and still i didn't find any solution yo yhe driver issue. It still freezes in vista and xp, it's practicaly so anoying that i can't use my laptop nowdays.
Before send it in waranty i'm not shure it's a hardware problem so i come with fresh details maybe someone will be able to help me.
So the strange thing : in bios my card is seen as NVIDIA NB8P-GS with bios version : 060.084.050.000.002 isn't it strange that is seen as GS ?
Does any of you dell 1520 owners have the same version ?
Please reply, thank's !

I have never had that problem with my 1520 so far. Right now I'm running XP on it. Both Vista and XP driver's I used were from NBF and worked great. I'd consider it a video card problem and contact Dell for warranty service.
