i had a crisis where my internet didn't work. i finally figured out that the battery went dead, and when that happens it shuts off he internet (FN-F2). i thought it was another problem, so i downloaded the latest driver from gateway support. anyway, i figured out the problem, but now the connection is always at 36 when before it was always at 52. i am sure it doesn't really matter for the internet but i want it to work correctly. i have a couple months left on my warantee and i want to make sure everything is working well. any thoughts?

I have this memory installed in my Inspiron 14R. 6gb (one 2gb & one 4gb). Great performance! I highly recommend Kingston.

It could just be some type of auto fallback that i noticed in some driver versions. It is done to conserve power/reduce heat. It works kinda like the CPU throttling that is done. It ramps up power to the card as needed. The reduction in power causes a drop in signal strenth, which causes the rate to fallback. If you have a desktop networked you can do a LARGE file transfer with, try that and see if it ramps up to 54.
Or try going into the device manager and opening the properties for the wireless card. Click to the advanced tab and disable anything that looks power consumption related ("power save mode", etc). See if this causes it to ramp back up where you expect it to be.
If neither of those give you the results you want, place the notebook right beside the router/AP and see if it goes up then, but back down to 36 where it use to be 54. If that's the case, maybe one of the antennae wires came off the mini-pci card.
