If you don't game anymore, then I would suggest an HP.
what are you gonna do with it now?

Actually this time it wasn't the internet at all. It was 10 minutes after 3dmark05 session. I leave it be just to check the gpu scores and everything was perfect. I got a score of 9224 out of it. The situation was I check Rivatuner both was idle like 72 C (I know it's pretty high but it's a new mobo so probably the thermal is still "thick" since they are stock thermal). Last time my place my gpu idle from 67 to 70 C. Back to the story, it was like after the result comes up and 10 minutes after that out of sudden the error occur. Just to let you know my hard drive is fresh since I did format multiple times even before I sent it for the first time (as the agent suggested coz he wanted to see if it's the hardware or software problem, so he asked me to install a different XP which was XP Pro and still got the same error right just when I wanted to use some programs and stuff). My AW's OS is XP MCE.

I don't even know, I just talked to an agent and she said either the supervisor or Critical Issue agent will gimme a call in an hour. So an hour is not that long to wait I guess. I have been tested way worse than that.

alright man, let's see how things play out. It would be a shame to not get your computer to work. That sucks. Keep us posted.

sorry to hear that man i have MCE too but so far on the m9750 i havent had any errors come up yet...

I just called Alienware like a minute ago, and nothing on the part seems to concern with my issue. I waited waited and waited both are still not available. When I request to talk to another Critical Issue Agent or CS supervisor, the agent say I can't because my "case" is handle by either of these two agents.

This is not going smooth at all. I am not even mad. I am extremely disappointed. It's either double standard or the 5-stars CS is just a hype.

I'm really sad and disappointed with AW right now.

I tested my "repaired" m5550 and there was no improvement at all. I ran 3DMark 06 and got around a 780 score!!!! And I got a paper that says
that they changed the video card and 2 gig of memory too. I told them to check the motherboard, and they said that they would. So, I am going to return my m5550...I can't afford to waste more time to wait. I need really need a good DTR for school and stuff.

I'm thinking of getting a Sager. What would you guys recommend??

you need to get a computer with atleast a 2.0 ghz and a better video card... lets say you got the m9750 it would kick the crap out of that m5550... and i would bet you would be pleased with the scores and function of the computer...but if you want to stay with a 15" then you would have to wait for alienware to release a new computer or look at another place for one...with your m5550 your processor is really holding you back... with the 3dmark06 it will test your video cardand CPU ability and lets just say that the video card isnt as fast as it could be compared to other vid cards. that is why your 3dmark06 is so low...with my m9750 im getting 6147 on mine with a 2.0 ghz and a single 7950GTX card....

I appreciate your advice, but, that's the thing, before I sent it in for repairs, I have gotten a 2100 score on Vista! With the same setup. The only problem was that when I played games was the card would probably overheat and cause my games to lag like crazy. I told the AW tech to check my motherboard and fans, but I guess he didn't even pay attention to it. All he did was change a new video card and put new ram and sent it back to me... Also the CPU score I get is 1410, which is normally what I would get. And I do not want to send it in again because it's just a waste of time for me and I really need a computer for school right now.

Spartan- I sent my 7700 in for a mobo failure, and it was returned with the same mobo and a new 7900 GTX. I won't get into the details, but the tech obviously diagnosed the problem himself, and thought it was the video card. I had already tested my 7900 and Quadro 1400, and when both failed I determined it was the mobo. When I get the computer back it would not start at all, and they scratched up my case panels really badly. I sent it back a few days ago, and they promised to replace the motherboard and case panels that they scratched. I got "VIP" repair status and 2 day Air shipping, but they didn't offer any sort of compensation for returning the system to me in worse condition than I sent it in.

.... that's my story, but the point I'm trying to make is that their repair facilities obviously do their own thing and make major mistakes. Maybe they'll listen to our original complains/requests this time!

Good luck on your repair.

I don't know man. Should I send it back for another repair? I'm so disappointed right now. I'm thinking of returning, but they said that I could only return it within a month of ownership. I've had this notebook for almost six months already. It was as the if repair techs completely ignored my complaints and request, like you said.

my computer has been overheating a lot. I think that's the problem. That's why I've been getting scores of around 800. So, I am going to send it back and give them another chance to repair it. I called the tech and he told me to reseat the video card. And my score on 3dmark06 has jumped up to 1500. So, I don't think that it's my motherboard that's the problem. My fan doesn't come on when the GPU is up at 80 C. Is this normal guys?
if you are hitting 80c with your fans not turning on i would say that is bad... and that could be your problem...

I notice that it only blows when the CPU hits around 65-70 ish, but doesn't even make a sound when the GPU is 80C.??
yeah it would be nice if you could change your fans settings to blow at a certain temp but the bios on these wont let you...
