Perhaps this is a newb question, but... Can anyone tell me how to prevent the built in gigabit ethernet adapter from being turned off on my notebook when I'm running on battery power?
The box in the power management tab of the properties panel for the device which says "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is not checked, but the netowrk adapter is still off when I run on battery power. Is there something else I need to do to force it to be on? (The reason I need to do this is that I have a piece of software whose license file is tied to the adapter's MAC address, and it won't start unless the Flexlm license manager can see the hardware.)
I'm using an HP NC6400 notebook and WinXP.
Thanks for any help!
