New processor for an m7700

I want to place a Intel Pentium 4 650 Prescott 3.4GHz 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor in my refirbished m7700 on the asumption that it will arrive with a 5xx series pentium4 that is reportadly hoter and slower.

Will i be able to install it and does anyone know any links to how to install it

It's a drop-in replacement easily done by end-users, and I'd highly recommend it.

Just make sure you have thermal paste so apply it to the CPU and maximize your heatsink's performance.

the motherboards of these laptops do not support the speedstep technology that comes with the 6xx series pentium 4 chips so i do not know if the chip will run cooler.
