Need some help fast!!!

Well recently my i9300 decided to take a shit on my head. Everytime I boot it up, jagged lines appear in different colors, like what happens with an overheated video card. Which is not true cause this started yesterday and I waited half an hour before attempting to start it up again. Nothing. I wait another half-hour. Still nothing. I go to a party and 5 hours later give it a shot. Same shit. I wait about 8 hours and try again. Still the same fricken shit. The guy from GameStop suggested it could be the LCD screen or the video card. So tomorrow I'm calling Dell to have it repaired since I have warranty until October 2008. What I want to know is if I have to ship it to them, should I remove the hard drive first? Also would you guys think they would fix it or just send me a replacement?
Thanks for all the help

I would definitely remove the HDD first. Unless you want a clean drive . Have you popped open the cover above the keyboard where the ribbon cable plugs in to verify it is not loose?

Welp, called up Dell and they're changing the video card. Hopefully I can convince them to get me a 7800GTX
