G1 down to $1699 - should I just wait for G2?

I can now get a pretty nice G1 for $1862, but should I just wait for the G2?

Is there any news on the G2 release date?...I thought I read on this forum somewhere that it was supposed to be a week or two (and that was about two weeks ago).

Why would you ever consider the G1? Is the lack of performance and overprice not even to justify EVER buying an ABS machine?

Still struggling to understand exactly what you meant with that statement, but it's sounds like a slam on my beloved G1. Find a gaming rig with better bang for the buck to substantiate your argument. Right now yer just blabberin.

By gaming rig I assume you mean... a gaming rig notebook right? Cause if not...

not to get in on the aqrguement but to point out,i would say the m6805 is on par or faster with substantially better battery life and about 1300 after rebates. not to mention you're all set for 64 bit computing.. just my $.02

back to the topic.. you can wait of course but if you keep waiting, knowing something better will be out, you could be waiting a long time, as there is something always better about to be out.

Id also like to advocate the eMachine m6805 over the G1 considering the incredibly lack luster battery life on the G1

Could you paraphrase this? I could not decipher whether this is an argument for or against the G1.

yeah that's a good point about always waiting for a better laptop, but I was really just looking for solid desktop replacement with decent battery life - and it seems like a Centrino based G2 may be it.
