some intitial fraps benchmarks with updated dell driver 156.61 on a clean install of windows XP sp2

Bioshock 1440x900 all graphics settings maxed incl global lighting

Frames Time (ms) Min Max Avg
312360000 35 72 52.05

Stalker 1440x900 max settings and everything on

Frames Time (ms) Min Max Avg
229160000 34 44 38.183

I dont really see how this is an accurate comparison at all really as there are way too many variables like the weather in stalker and where you are in the game with whats happening/enemy numbers etc.

I'll give FEAR a go at some stage as that actually has a benchmark app built in....the stalker fraps was benchmarked where you save Fox from the dogs and bioshock in the medical facility.

Turbotalon,do you do a number of runs at different points of the game and pick the most average one or ?

Will double check tomorrow that I haven't overlooked something [settings]and do it again

Finally an M1730 outscoring me. I was beginning to feel bad for you guys.

If you notice in some games, the frame rate is much higher, say indoors or in a building. If your MAX frame rate was something insane, you can pretty much throw that benchmark out because it's going to bias your average FPS. Just run a bunch of 30 second benchmarks without pausing or entering any menus, then find the one that looks to be the most representative of your results. Of course there will still be assholes that cheat.

Don't feel bad for anyone man,I'm sure 1730 owners are liking there purchase just like I think I will.If they don't like it,which I'd be surprised,I guess they can always return it and buy something else.

I will do like you suggested and run a heap of 30 sec ones at different stages and see if I can average it more so,then that will be it from me,I would be interested in someones 1730 fraps with the top end cpu in it though, just to see if it makes a 1000.00 difference.

I'm not really jealous of the hardware at this point, but that laptop is soooo beautiful. Wish I could just get the shell and put my E1705's guts in it. What the hell were those idiots thinking anyhow? 128bit bus? Come on! Keep those benchmarks coming.
m1730 < high resolutions.
what do you mean diefool?
because of the restricted bus of the 8700's the m1730 in SLI will lag behind in high resolutions. (more so against cards that have double the bus.) real world tests.
i think he means that the 1730 crumbles at high resolutions ie 1920x1200 your panels native resolution.
yup, that's about it

in gaming high res it will do alot better once the 256 bus 8700's or similar come out.

right now in high res even with 2 cards I doubt in real gaming tests it will beat a 7950 or even a 7900.
Didn't zyb's graw 2 fraps @1920x1200 rate about the same as TT's @1440x900? whats the story there?

I guess if you go off the toms hardware comparison of the AW9750 and 1730 you would think that.....what most of you guys seem to be forgetting is that in some newer games, you not going to be playing them at high res on either.....so the points moot to some degree
post #33 of 494
the hardware restricts it.

alot of folks on here have said the same thing.

Post some GRAW2,bioshock,stalker fraps and at 1920x1200 and I will do the same,I will start downloading the demo of GRAW2 as zyb's benches were pretty f**kin good at 1920.......I know Stalker is a slideshow at native with everything maxed as is bioshock,I wouldn't personally choose quality over resolution in real life gaming particularly with STALKER as you endure a huge it by enabling dynamic lighting over static for pretty much no better looks.
hey screw graw, it's a demo.

do bioshock

and oblivion.

1920x1200 everything cranked (HDR natural enviro mod. )

I will post my stuff. plus turbo wants those benchies too i spect.

That's odd that you only get a few FPS less than me in Oblivion @ 19x12, and I'm at 14x9. That damn game NEVER ran right for me. Corrupted saves, buggy as hell, you name it. I had to give up and uninstall it.
Ok,I did bioshock 8 times @ 1920x1200 max settings, this one is middle of the road out of the 8,I was surprised it was this good considering it feels like shit to play

Frames Time (ms) Min Max Avg
149460000163724.9
Actually the one above was the lowest....this was the highest
