what you said. and don't forget the orange box.
beside that, i like enemy territory: quake wars,
it's a fps, but multiplayer only.
tomb raider legend is nice, too. not a fps, though.
still a nice game with good puzzles. and it's cheap.
as for a little older games, i enjoyed dark messiah
of dark and magic a lot. it's a fps, you use swords,
bows and some magic similar to bioshock. and it
looks great, in my eyes.

thanks for all the tips of gaming. I actually posted a reply last night but must have screwed it up somehow.

Anyway, here is my fraps in bioshock, started just before a fight scene and its in and around the garden with the bees

overclock is a conservative 620/700

Diefool, remove the last two zeros to each number and you get 16:9 Indeed 1600x900 is a 16:9 resolution. 16:10 is 1680x1050.

Hey, correct me if I'm wrong guys but these are very good scores! I wonder if it's the xtreme processor or the gpus that make such a difference.

Hey, Mikla...I got the Crysis benchmark tool. I don't see a 1440x900 resolution option though. A little help?
post #366 of 494
TT, I see form your sig you're still pushing your gpu at higher clocks! Wow, yours got a lot of headroom.

Yo Savat, I need a favor. Have you gotten to the 'Recovery' portion of the story line in Crysis? If so, could you run a few 60 second benchmarks in that area? 1440x900, no AA, no vsync, all settings at medium with NO tweaks running. This is for troubleshooting since our systems are so similar. At these exact settings I'm getting 10 less fps than Diefool, and since I'm only getting an average of 25, 10 is a BIG deal. Thanks in advance.

***EDIT***
Better yet, just get the Crysis benchmark tool. It is giving me identical results to an actual FRAPS bench. If you don't have the 1440x900 resolution option, just use the custom cvar box.

r_Height = 900
r_Width = 1440

Hopefully this will help me get some perspective on my poor numbers.

I see you figured it out. It is a nice tool that allows a better comparison between systems and setups.

Yeah. By the way, you're posting some killer benchmarks. Are you excited for the 8800GTX's?
post #370 of 494
You bet I am. I have been on the phone to Dell several times about it. I am trying to convince them to let me Beta them as a real world user and provide feedback since I have two 1730s. They have not admitted to anything yet, but I am working on getting to the right folks.

Do they actually let folks beta things like that? I wish they'd make one to fit the e1705/m1710. Granted we'd only have one card, but I only have 1440x900, so I don't know how much SLI would really do for me.

I got my benchmark up to 29 fps, but I still need to find where those other 5-7 frames ran off to. I'm not used to get trumped on benchmarks, but more importantly I could have gone through the game at 35 fps instead of 25. Ten frames makes a world of difference.

Diefool, you need to divulge your secrets.

Does anyone else get this info in their console about FSAA? Seems like the game can't disable the FSAA, which could be accounting for the fps loss. Even with the console unlock command, several commands do not work. So far God Mode and No Weapon Limit do not work.

-devmode in the shortcut.

I never noticed that.

but I do know that AAx2-4 xx you have to have high shaders to enable it minmum

1600x900 turning the shaders a little bit down. keeping all other settings HIGH and then SHADOWS HIGH.

I could live without some of the flashy shaders. but I still think it looks killer with full shadows and everything else on HIGH.

make a autoexec that just tweaks the shaders so it still looks good. like

r_usepom=1

and all shadows on full HIGH but vegitation to )

sunbeams full too.

May not be the problem, but I do know the problem lies within the game. I'm still getting awesome 3dmark scores, and normal benchmarks in every other game. We shall see.

Hi Turbod, I have completed the game this weekend. Is Recovery the level in the snow when you exit the alien base ? If so I had very poor framerates in this level as compared to all other levels. But from my reading in the forums this level is most people's bottleneck in the game. No problem for running benchies at your specified settings, except that today I'm at work and won't even go home tonight. Tomorrow I can though.
post #377 of 494
no recovery is the second level after CONTACT.

you are taking about the level before Exudus..

that's around when I quit playing the game because the open-endedness stopped.

the snow level I skipped because I could only get 15--22 fps during that scene

I am now Using the Delta when overclocking and I think it is working for me.

I can get to my highest that I was before with no artifacts so I am using 625 with a 25mhz delta.

so 650 is what I get with my geo clock.

I get the same preformance and less temps like -2 or 3 degrees.

Just to make sure we're on the same page:
Crysis Benchmark Tool
1440x900, put the next two lines in the Custom cvars box to force 1440x900:

r_Height = 900
r_Width = 1440

All Med Settings
No Vsync
Full screen
3 Demo Loops
Time of Day 9
GPU Benchmark
NO ****ING TWEAKS ENABLED!

I am getting 29 fps at 650/830. Anyone with a similar system please participate.
