E1705/M1710/M1730 FRAPS Benchmarks Thread - Page 4

I will post GRAW2,when it downloads...very slow @ 50kbps

KP,I hear what your saying...mostly....you still won't find proof of single 79 series card absolutely crushing the 8700M GT sli in everything...because its simply not there, this thread and the original one zyb posted with benchmarks is as good as it gets as far as this comparison goes,I know the threads you talk about, and its only theoretical opinions being spouted,NO hard facts.

I will post the GRAW benchmarks ,and if they are good,I can still see you guys with your blinkers on ignoring the FACTS in front of you....whats a person to do?...do my benchmarks so far look like they are struggling to keep up with 7900 series ?they don't to me,especially as I have a base 2.2 cpu,on a very clean install of XP,and non existant driver optimisation for different games or overclocking, which will hopefully change [don't worry KP,I don't expect you or your geforce twin to rise above your personal pettyness and provide any support for 8700sli users, but we can live in hope]

I'm sorry turbodtalon for derailing this thread, but hey, your not exactly above doing the same yourself, are you?
Its a bit unfair labeling Prog,Kotor, zyb, or any other owners as users that defend their purchase to death, they all seem pretty good people, and I'm the only owner taking issue with you guys and what I think are some peoples imaginary facts.

GRAW2 57%...will be tomorrow.

So "You're Out" huh? I don't particularly care for your benchmarks, as I know you are extremely biased. And that crap spewing from your mouth in that other 1730 thread is cancerous too. So, why don't you make like a tree...and get the f*ck out of here.

that's stock.

I play with it 650/730 usually i get 30fps+ outside.

seems playable enough to me.
If Oblivion isn't playable outside with my rig I don't know how I beat it....

Even my 8800 has issues with Oblivion outside w/o the mods to fix the terrible coding for the outside environment. Outside I pull around 45-50FPS on my 8800 with grass turned down, which isn't much better than my 7950. Of course inside I pull over 200 FPS lol. My M1710 pulls 34 outside/55 inside depending on where I am with everythingh cranked up. Oblivion is hard to compare to other rigs though, unless we get everyone to run it with no mods on lol.

Bottom line Gerry, the previous gen cards currently run circles around the OC'ed 8600's..err 8700's... We aren't all here to knock down Dell, and we aren't jealous that our model is now the previous generation (omg!).The fact is at higher resolutions the 8700's choke. It's a technical limitation due several factors, which include:

-Only having 256MB of video RAM total vs the 7950's that have 512 total.
-Reduced memory bus

As the majority of us have said on multiple occasions (I'll refrain from quoting myself) we will gladly bless the 1730 when it finally lives up to the name "Beast". Until then we will continue to tell people interested in hardcore gaming at native resolutions that the 1730 is not up to snuff & to consider choosing something else. I love Dell, I think most people here can back me up on that one lol. But I am not a fanboy & if something they put out is not up to snuff I'll be the first to point it out until the situation is rectified.

I think you need to take a moment, step back & reevaluate your motives for backing this new laptop in it's current configuration for "power gamers". Do you honestly believe that someone that wants maximum performance should invest in the 1730? I would hope not, because it does not make sense.

Add to that the DX10 argument, which is crippled at best. There are no current games that really use it to it's full potential, DX10 is a ways off from becoming a standard, and most gamers are still using XP, even when running 8 series cards, like I am. When Crysis DX10 comes out I will try it, but I'm not going to play it in Vista just for that. DX9 still has life left in her & she proved it with the Crysis DX9 beta.

So bottom line, what am I saying?

-90% of the people here are not previous gen fanboys pissed of that we can't get a 1730 (I could buy one but I want SLi 8800's)

-Most of us want every member to get all the facts before they plop down 4G's just to come back & be ticked off because their game did not perform they way they thought it would

-All of us love Dell & want to see the proposed video card upgrade for the 1730! But until it's here we are not going to recommend a product that has future "potential" upgrade path that will surpass the 7th gen performance levels.

E1705/M1710 WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST!!!!! RAAAAAWR!!!
*Summons all the E1705/M1710 owners to battle with the forces of darkness (M1730)*

:P
Just kidding, I love my E1705 to no end, I don't care if the M1730 comes with several super cute kittens, I'm not changing :P
post #67 of 494
Well said Sol,

I personally could get an 1730 as well... but pound for pound if I had to choose right now or else... I would choose the clevo d901c with quad core and 7950 sli.

I am also waiting for dual 8800's or dual 8900's or whatever the next Hi-End M graphics solution is. Because when it does come out. it will be sooo great I will have to upgrade...

Sadly... that's not how the m1730 makes me feel.

Hopefully it does live up to it's "beast" status....

but alas.

the only thing that makes it a beast is... that it gets crappy battery life and it weighs a ton.... with a huge power brick... (beasty)

Though that is all I see at this point..... If the card was killer all that would change...

I personally don't mind my white stripes on my 9400.. I like them....

I am not about looks at all....

People say it all the time folks.. It's what is on the INSIDE that counts..

Is that with the 32" or 19" lcd?

Gerry. I have been watching this thread and out of everyone you have been extremely negative. almost every post you have made has some subtle insult towards someone. You make comments about how 16 year old this thread has become when you are the only one I see acting like an adolescent. Be proud of your purchase which it looks like you are, but debate properly. Just my neutral opinion.

That comparison was with my laptop 17" 1920x1200 and my wife's 24" 1920x1200 NEC from downstairs (she was pissed!) in order to keep things as consistant as possible.

Lol in post #61 he insulted 3 people in a row. That's gotta be a record somewhere
post #71 of 494
Okay,
Perithimus, you are right,I just read through my posts in this thread and I agree with you about my posts,so I am officially apologizing for my comments, especially to TT who has been probably the most unbiased person here apart from a couple of unnecessary remarks I find annoying.

2.I agree with most of you guys that graphically, the XPS 1730 is not a great upgrade for the price over a 1710.And if I had one myself I would keep it until the "upgrade" comes for the 1730.

3.I don't find any laptop ugly, really [except for white macs] and my comments were...yes.... a childish retort to the comments from a lot of people about the 1730

4.TT,I know I rave on with what you guys consider a lost cause, but I ABSOLUTELY will NOT bullshit these benchmarks,in fact I go looking for action,so as to not make my scores possibly look better than what they should be.

5.As for telling me to F**k off,It won't happen barring me being banned,so I'm hoping you accept my apology, and we can get on with it.
Do you want me to post GRAW2 fraps benchmarks?

6.I do honestly really like my new laptop, and can't have buyers remorse, because I can still return it.

7.I know,I shouldn't speak to moderators the way I did in post 61,but hopefully if Kraziepop is concerned he will pm me and tell me so.

8.Solapathy,no need to jump on the bandwagon while the irons hot, just because you and I don't get along.

9.None of you have proven that the dual 8700M is a serious downgrade from the single 79 series like some of you are convinced it is......this is the whole point really of what I'm raving on about.

So there you go,humble pie...mmmmm
here we go again........

While my 1900x1200 benchmarks didn't prove that your SLI is a downgrade.

They damn well proved that they aren't an upgrade and tat's all that matters.

Takes a big man to say you're sorry for thousands to read man. Sorry about the shit I said. Both laptops have their strong and weak points. Let's get to some benchmarking and gaming. If you want to have a ***FRIENDLY*** showdown, just remember that I have 1440x900. I'll get some fresh benchmarks, as since my reformat of XP yesterday I'm getting the highest benchmarks I've ever had. You should feel good knowing that the E1705/M1710/M9750 are at their limits, while no one quite knows what's in store for your M1730. Be excited dude, and let us poke fun at you while we still can...SLI 8800's...whew.
and your apology was going so well up to #8. I'm sure you singled me out for no apparent reason lol... you somehow think I don't like you. I have no problems with you, I only take issue with your personal attacks on people...

you really need to pay more attention to what you are saying & how you are saying it you will find that people don't need to jump on a "bandwagon..."

Opinions & thoughts are one thing but the instant you resort to personal attacks you end up on everyone's @#4 list & any valid points you may have are ignored...Apologizing is a great step towards fixing the issue( and means a lot to everyone here), but people tend to remember it for a little while... Hopefully you gain something out of this, because we do enjoy your comments when they aren't personal stabs....

What does me being a mod have anything to do with it? I am human, I am a notebook user, and aside from the ban stick I am no different from you. Please realize - people don't get banned around here for having a difference of opinion. So don't assume just because you express your own thoughts to a mod or admin, that you will be instabanned. I don't play that way, and none of the others do either. Its good to have a good honest debate... its when the flames start that the mods jump into action. Keep it all friendly and there will be no problems. Your general apology was a good start... keep it clean from here on out though please.

Whoa whoa whoa... Where the hell did THAT come from? "Personal pettyness"? Umm... Since when? Do you think we're gonna nix support for anything but what we deem "good enough" to use our drivers from the mix? Man, if that were the case, we wouldn't support the GeForce FX Go. Maybe you'll take the time to look into the MobileForce drivers (other than the 9x.xx drivers) and see that there's support for not only the GeForce FX Go, but also the GeForce 8x00M cards . Make sure you know what you're talking about before you start talking crap about people that aren't even involved in this thread, not to mention someone not involved in this thread, and who's a MODERATOR. I won't ask for an apology from you, and I don't expect one, just make sure that next time, think before you start shouting your mouth off... For your own sake.

I am going to d/l graw soon and pastor mine as well.

btw, Turbo, do you have any of the other games I posted Benchies for the last round?
