I would like to know who is using these latest bios (1.0.0.9T1), and if there are any noticable problems or improvements.

Hello,

no problem at all.
If Sager send email with this bios version, i suppose it correct some bugs but no information on these fixes.

I only noticed that :

Radeon Mobility Bios version 8.011.001.031 before update

now
Radeon Mobility Bios version is 8.011.001.017

It seems they use an older Radeon mobility bios, perhaps more stability ?

Bios version date : 02/02/2004

Yes, it's helpfull for me to get this new bios version, thank you.

BTW, i'll share my boot floppy image to other members (direct link).
Am I showing my age, by reminding everyone, a bootable floppy can be made easily, on your lappy, 1st put a floppy in the drive, by then select format in the contextual menu, (aka right click) and check "ceate an ms-dos startup disk"

Hello,

that's ok, but try it with Windows XP and unzip the bios zipped ( not a self extract archive ) password protected.

I had to use an old pkunzip for dos, not so easy or common for beginners.

I just try to help

I wasnt referring to the winimage package, I was talking about most normal bios updates, where you have to make the bootable floppy

Question: Do I really need to upgrade my Bios? My machine was built and shipped 11/03. My Norton systems info tab says I'm running - "PTLTD - 6040000 Ver 1.00PARTTBLh, 11/14/03". My beast is running good now, I don't wnat to rock the boat if I don't have to.

yeah your right Grantski, I just tried update my bios to (1.0.0.9T1), and it bombed. It got almost to the end and bombed with error "Devices not Recognized, Please reboot". I guess I'll just leave that alone for awhile.

Still Sager rocks!!!!!!

anyone have bios 1.0.0.9 bios (for 8890) or later they can post somewhere or send to me? I can't find it anywhere, and sager wont send it to me since i didn't buy through them. I'm hoping for a version that has ability to turn off CPU throttling. But also, the latest bois is needed to resolve some video issues.
What video problems are you referring to?
The problems a lot of us are having after upgrading the video driver to anything based on CAT 4.6 or greater. Gaming is improved, but the ability to play video, (DVD or file based) is virtually gone unless one turns down hardware acceleration. There is supposedly a fix out for this involving a new BIOS flash, but I have not seen one for the 8890 yet.
Are you using the radeon ones, or omega?
There were a lot of issues with some of the cat 4.6 drivers across the boards, I went back to omega 2.5.30 myself which improved game play on doom2, and still has very good dvd and mpeg playback.
Give that a try and see how it works for you.
The 2544 Omegas were the last ones to work (for me, anyway). Releases after than (Omega, official ATI releases, etc. - doesn't matter what flavor) have screwed up video playback unless hardware acceleration is turned down OR you use Media Player Classic and set it to render everything via DX7.

Halo is so much better with the 4.9's, tho......
I had less performance with 2.5.4
Well, if ya find this well balanced bios, paste it in here
post #38 of 41
If it is the 1.0.0.9 BIOS, I have it but have no way of hosting it. I could send it to someone who could put it up if anyone would like.

bios help

I was wondering if someone could help me with this, this is the first time ive ever done this and im dumb i guess cus nothing works right.

I cant get the v10Bios Exe. to become a ISO file so i can make a bootable cd

I tried extracting it and i get an error and it wont let me, when i run the exe. i try extracting from there but out of all the files there is no ISO file. I tried haveing the exe. make a Image and it makes one but its not a ISO., so i tried makeing a bootable cd out of it and when i rebooted it went through some process(i dont think it was Bios install) then it left me at dos A: still media playback was messed up. Im going nuts what is it exactly i need to do??

Was this already taken care of? Not sure if this was same issue in the other 8890 BIOS thread. If you still need this, let me know and I will put together an ISO file (but prolly won't get to it for a day or two).
