Ok i dont know what is going on but when i upgrade to the lates bios which was A5, Flashed the bios on my Video card, and upgraded my sound card drivers my computer act different it seem slow.

I dont know what is slowing m doesn buti feel like Dell did this upgrade to slow down the system so they dont be at the same level as there new system when it come to games.
i use to play this laptop as much as i use it for work i use it for games. so i was wondering what going on can any body confirm this please. has anyone encounter any slow down after upgrading to the new drivers and flash upgrades.

Well first off I would like to know what system your using and what sorts of slowdowns? when loading? gaming? be specific
post #5 of 94
yeah I can confirm this and I thought it may be my setup.
I have the A05 Bios and the latest Radeon BIOS installed and the Laptop also seems to be slow.
this is really just a feeling cause it seems like everything i sgoing slower like accessing folders via explorer or starting the explorer till it displays all folders.
And also it seems that my fans run a lot more now althought the temp is down (monitired with fangui)

is gaming performance effected in anyway?
Well im going to give it like a day or two and c what happens it was working just fine right now but i still note some lag with the A06. like when i use explore when i go to a folder in my favo and click on it. it take the expansion screen take like 3 sec before it disappear.and the page starts to load.

Well im getting a 60 GB 5400 rpm. which one would u think would be the best to keep in the system. ok i know the 60 sound like the logical choice but this is the thing that has me debating one has 60 gb ( i also have a Excloser) i have alot of music and lot of things i like to carry in my hd. but my other hd is 40 gb which is good but is 4200 RPM. so one has speed but more space and the other has less space but more speed (i have more music then 40 gb). can someone give me there opinion

Nope gaming is normal, FarCry still plays fine the same way.
But, as someone else mentioned it I updated my BIOS to A06 adn guess what? It feels like it is better now at least it seems the slow stuff seems o be gone with starting stuff.
However it is still there when I access a special folder on my HD but that could be my problem. I will watch that.
What concerns me more is that when I play games liek FarCry and after that I for example reboot the machine right away I always get the error about the laptop got too got and was powered down. I then hit F1 and everything works fine as I know I couldn't have run hot as I monitor the temp
Strangely enough when I wait a while after the gaming and wait till the fan stops and then reboot it works fine.
Any comment?

@HD Question:
Might I suggest the 7200 rpm drive from Hitachi with 60GB.
I have two of those babys and I pretty much guarantee you that you also will love the drive.

I had some weirdness the last few days. Firstly, I tried to delete the A06 bios off my desktop, and it said the file was in use and couldn't delete it! I could only delete it by making a NEW folder, MOVING the file to the folder (yes it would move!) and then DELETING the folder. This has happened on several .exe files, and it's weirded me out. I have no virii, and so I am a little confused...

Sounds like windows isnt properly indexing the files and constantly trying to access it or another process hijacking it. Did you use a clean format of windows or are you still using the one shipped with the system?

hey DM, i think you should add alittle explanation to the "Utilities and Misc Software" section, like what everything does.......

Fresh install the second I received the unit. I didn't even boot into Dell-Windows even once.

Hey guys. Sorry to jump in like this.

I just downloaded the omega forceware drivers for my 8600 but when it came time to find my video card, I just don't see the 5650. Can I even use these modded drivers?

Thanks.

I hate formating

Dell machina are repling to my post. If u c my video u will c what im trying to say about the slow down. is not that big but i feel like my system is alot slower then before. i cant prover the other cases but i know before ever upgrading to any thing then what i had before my computer never mad the fav fade away like that. i mean i been with my laptop for sometime. I know is working slow. and it never worked like thing before. i just want to ask does this have to do with the hardware or do u think is somethig with windows.
well if u want to c the video let me know is not that big.

Just notes when i put my laptop on max battery, the laptop works very slow. it work slower then usual.
