GPU speeds

I am looking at getting a current make macbook pro 15.4 inch, and in doing research i found that older models had their GPU's underclocked, is it the same issue with the new generation that use the Nvidia 8600m gs instead of the ati chipsets

They actually use the 8600m GT, not the GS, but yes I have heard that they are slightly underclocked. However, since that primarily affects Windows, then you can get utilities that will let you bring the speed up. BUt obviously at the expense of heat and fan noise.
