a little liquid..

I have a Dell Inspiron E1505, 2 gig ram, core 2 duo 5300 1.7 ghz, radeon x1400 windows vista(which i hate)

a very small amount of liquid, (less then an ounce) dropped in to my backpack, and in to my laptop, seemingly righty through the fan piece.

I started up my laptop, and noticed it was slightly sticky, ignoring that i turned it on, and it loaded up and booted fine.. but upon getting to windows it blue screened, and froze there.

so i hard powered it off, and tried to reboot it, and the left most led was solid, while the other two flashed, and then it would power off, so i removed my hard drive, battery, and the cover to see the RAM.

and i noticed bits of liquid in all parts of it.. small amount, like milileters if that.. i wiped it all away, blew inside of it. put everything back together and it worked.. no problems for about 20-30 minutes, after which i shut it down.

Should I worry? I have it sitting infront of a fan(aimed at the fan piece) on full blast.

Yes you should worry as the laptop was powered on and could have shorted out. Do you have complete care?

it wasn't powered on when the water spilled in, but i did make the dumb mistake of turning it on while it was, i did hear this little pop, but it sounded like the kind your speakers make.

I don't have complete care, i didn't buy any of the extended warrenty for it.

However, as I said after removing most of the parts and soaking up what little water there was, it powered back up no problem. wireless worked fine, nothing weird on the screen.

You're probably fine. And lucky too There might well be future risk to your computer over time. No way to tell really.

Hopefully I am one of the lucky ones, I think i'm gonna take it to a friend who owns a computer shop, maybe he can clean it out inside for me. cause it was green tea(arizona canned brand) and has suger in it, my keys are also a bit sticky up at the top, how would i clean them?

took it to school today, ran it for 2 and a half hours(got nice and hot in there, maybe that dried everything up) no problems, no crashes.

They say dont turn it on for at least 2/3 days. Let the water dry up. I guess its too late for that now lol but hope all goes well

edit-Just saw that it was green tea lol

Speaking of green tea, it's healthy, right?

So why did I see diet green tea today? *sigh*

You should worry. I'd take it apart and try to clean as much of the computer as possible. Use alcohol and cotton swabs.

Then, I'd pray. Wouldn't have recommended you turn it on until you dried it out completely and cleaned it out though =/ But too late for that now

To be honest any damage that was done is already done at this point. If its running fine you might have gotten lucky. In the future NEVER EVER EVER EVER turn on an electronic device thats wet.

Agree with JKJ... whatever damage that was done is already done. If you are inclined to do so, you can open up the laptop and try to clean out the rest of the dried up green tea. But if you're not comfortable doing that, then just leave it be, and pray that you got off lucky.

To clean your keyboard, remove it from your laptop, and submerge it in warm water (no soap) long enough for the dried sugary tea to dissolve in the water. Then rinse the entire keyboard off in rubbing alchohol, so that the water doesn't leave any traces of minerals on the keyboard contacts. When done, prop the keyboard in a vertical position for no less than 48 hours (whatever you do, do NOT use any heat-based drying such as a hair dryer. The heat will melt the plastic components). Reconnect, and pray that it works. If it doesn't, then it's time to go out and buy a replacement keyboard (under $100).
