Holy Replacement Laptop Batman!!!1one!1!

Wow... Tony, Krayzie... It was worth the hassle/wait... I just got a load of the specs of my upcoming replacement laptop and nearly fainted!!! Apparently this beast is worth $6,902.13!!! Get a load of this:

- T7600G (overclockable -- sweee-hee-heeet...)
- 4GB RAM ($3600 extra?!?!? Oh snap!)
- 200GB 7200RPM HD (2 times my old capacity!)
- 7950GTX Go (hells yeah, this was all I was hoping for!)
- Vista Home Premium (meh, damn Vista... I may reformat and install XP...)
- Intel 4965 wireless card (draft N? Meh...)
- Bluetooth (and some sorta lite-on headset, too?)
- TV Tuner w/remote (this is awesome)
- 2 batteries (which I had before)
- 1 A/C adapter (I have 3 now -- is it the same 130w one from my XPS Gen 2?)
- Office 2007 (which I already have Ultimate, but cool nonetheless)
- A bunch of stuff that I can't tell WTF they are...

I think I may pass out... Dell really came through for me. I am very surprised. I do hope they give me the system disk so I can reformat and wipe out the crapload of bloatware I see they installed, too. 3 years of Macafee? No thanks... AOL? Meh... Other crap too. No sign of a DVD burner in there, but I'm sure it's the standard one. Though the PowerDVD says "BD-P" as in Blu-Ray??? That would rock, but not expected.

Anyways, just thought I'd update everyone. It's gonna be a week long marathon session of downloading/installing/setting up crap. Right after the jizz-in-pants sessions...

(PS - 3-5 days shipping before it gets here.)

(PPS - 200 posts bitches!)

For the love of...

And I thought MY replacement was good... JEEEEEZUSSSS!!!!!!!

Now, you officially suck... And you had BEST test them damn drivers when you get that BEAST... lol

If you think 4gb of memory in the laptop is worth $3600, you're silly. Can Upgrade a dell m1730 with 2gb to 4gb for $375. nice thought tho and still a nice rig!

Well, it said +$3600 on the detailed info for the 4GB RAM. Typo? I dunno. But sweet nonetheless!

Oddly enough, the laptop JUST came in!!! And it has Vista Ultimate 32-bit, not Home Premium (WITH installation CD -- WOOHOO)! And yes, it came with the freakin' Blu-Ray player! Hell, it even came with a Cingular broadband connection card.

I can't believe this is actually "featured" on the front page! Can I use ANY more exclamation points?!? I am so excited I can't hardly contain myself!

So much to do... Like backup my old computer, and freak out when I realize I have to re-install SO much stuff... Or can I just use Acronis to put everything but system files back onto it?

Either way, thanks Tony. I WILL be testing as soon as I can get this beast to where I want!

Wow... Me --->

awesome
seriously, awesome
i got a pretty good e1705 for my 9300 and thought that was good, but damn i wish i was in your place
post #7 of 13
Dumb question - but why was your original laptop replaced? What model was it previously? And what did you do to get it replaced, much less with something good?

All I can say Shnike is... Well...

I HATE YOU!!!!1!one!

J/K dude... very sweet replacement if I do say so myself. I don't think I will push for anymore of the replacements for me though... I went from the lowest config I9300 to an "almost" top tier E1705 (only thing not top tier is the T7400 instead of the T7600.. no big though) If I dare get another replacement, they would surely shaft me with a 1720... or worse a 1721

With that in mind... my CPU on my newest rig gets way too hot... nearly 100*C hot - and this is after trying every which way to AS5 it down a bit. System crashes from heat... benchmarks suffer. Sucks. Dell is bringing out a new mobo and heatsink to see if that fixes it all. I certainly hope so myself. * crosses fingers *

Oh yeah, hey Shnike?

GET TO WORK SLACKER!

Hey Shnike i got a question . How did you get that replacement . I assume it was made for that gen2 XPS thats in your signature . The system you are getting sure is impressive . Was your old lap under a regular limited warranty or did you have CC ?
I'm curious about this too. What was the circumstance of the replacement?
I want to know how he ended up with such a giant leap up in stats and most people with Dell problems now are getting systems replaced with downgraded equipment. And Dell is saying that a new system of any kind is an upgrade.
With these replacements it's really a luck related matter on what computer you get. Sometimes they send you a great system that is many times better than your current one, sometimes a worse (where you will call dell up again and try to get a better), or sometimes they'll send you one of your same specs. =/ It's really like rolling the dice lool
