Formating T60, but HDD is invisisble?

Hello everyone!

I'm sitting here, and would like to install a new copy of windows(xp pro) on my laptop. Having done this several times on desktops and other notebooks, i feel quite comfortable with it.

Although, i can't get through to the bios in any way, and if i boot from the xp-cd it just jumps out and tell me that it can't find any HDD to perform the installation on?

Anyone tried this before?

I have an idea about that its the ibm software shutting me out, although i don't know where to start searching.

thanks for your help

You either need to get the proper SATA drivers and load them up before installing XP, or set the drives to compatibility mode in the BIOS (and you can set them to AHCI after you install XP).

I don't think this will help any, but I just did the same thing over the weekend with my T30. I took the new HDD with me to cottage, since I figured I'd have some time to install WindozXP and all my programs, etc. Well get all the way there, and install the new HDD, just to find out that it would not find the HDD. :-?

So I tried about three times, nothing, so I gave up, figuring I forgot to lable the volume or something like that when I formatted the drive in my desktop.

Re-installed the HDD in my external enclosure, checked on both the desktop and my laptop, and it was there and found without any problems. Performed another format (quick), re-installed the HDD, and it was found after a couple more attampts. Then I just had issues with Windoze XP rebooting to the Windoze install. Finally got it all to work though and am now running on a 60GB HDD in my T30, up from the 20GB HDD it came with.
