I have a ACER TM 6291. It had Vista pre-installed, which I downgraded to XP. Acer has real good service for downgrading and I could find almost every driver that I needed (except some sound problem (Microsoft's KB888111), but I got a decent driver from Microsoft and everything was working alright). The device manager displayed no problems.
Then one day I connected an USB mouse to the laptop and everything still worked fine. BUT the next time I started the comp things were not as nice. The touchpad works fine while starting up, I can move the cursor until Windows starts and icons start to appear in the systray. Then suddenly the cursor freezes. The touchpad icon is working. On the touchpad systray icon I can see when I click or move my fingers over the touchpad, but the cursor won't move and clicks are not registered. I have to reconnect the USB-mouse in order to be able to move the cursor.
I have NOT disabled the touchpad (Fn F7). I found somewhere a tip that I should remove the battery (and disable the function that shows the status of the battery), but that won't work either.
Does anyone know how I can get my touchpad to work properly again?

Best regards, Mats
