Dell XPS m1730 3dMark06 Scores

Ok. Here is my latest score. This score is different from my first as my first run involved me goofin up driver crap and not having physics card installed.... Not that the card matter, but the scores are different.

My first test was 6506 (sorry I dont have a pic)

Here is my score with plain dell drivers, no overclock, just plain old sli 8700's...
7625

Attachment 14492

Theres not a doubt in my mind with different drivers and over clock ability, that the 8700m GT sli is not a bad vid card.... People have been stating theyve got pretty good game performace... Best part is, the upgrade for the 1730 can only get better! ehehe

I must be dumb, but if anyone comes across other 8700m GT drivers that can do SLi, I would really like to try them

Im working on OC'n it now... Damn thing just resets to default when i try over clocking... even under clocking it goes back to defualt (625 mhz)

The system cost me 3100.00 shipped with CC

Not to bad of a score, 9k would be and should be possible with some tweaking id imagine.
Just a bummer cause if i decide to order one im only going to want to play games at native rez and i know its going to bring those cards to there knees at 1920x1200 .

Congrats on your new purchase and keep us all filled in on your progress and some more game benchs would be awsome .

It really is a wonderful machine... the more I use it, the more I love it! I havent gamed yet, but Im sure it will be good.

I too really want to get a dual 88XX or 9XXX card. But I just couldnt wait... For those of you who have 1710 with 7950... I prob wouldnt get one.

Im using XP and i cant even use DX 10... and im def not using vista as it is, well lets just say.... its F***ing terrible!

If you can figure out how to backup your video card bios then just link it here and I'll look at it.

Try Nibitor or the latest nvflash.

Prog...thanks for the update, can hardly wait until they've finished 'building' mine, or whatever 'pre-production' means...I suspect it means they haven't even thought about getting the parts in the same room, but...?

Anyhow, can you quickly run that sucker on stock through 3DMark05? That's the bench I use most, since 06 is skewed toward high-end 'features' that give you points, whereas 05 is just game examples (i.e. you only have to run the GAMES tests to get a total score on 05). Whenever you get a minute, that would be great...should be between 12-14,000, I'm guessing.

I also have no doubt that the drivers and some overclocking would have that sucker over the 8000 mark on 06, and over 14,000 on 3D05, which is not bad considering the 8700 sux nutz (Toshiba has one in their Walmart box, ffs...oh, the humanity!). I cannot believe that no other drivers work in SLI...that really blows. Hopefully the crazies at Laptopvideo2go will be able to hack in a fix for Dell and other new lappies with SLI cards. Actually, now that I think of it, what the hell do all the Alienware and Sager people use for drivers? There have been 7950 SLI rigs for awhile, now. I wonder if it has something to do specifically with the Directx-10 spec of the 8700?!? Anyhow, you might check with some of the dudes on those other forums, to see if they can run hacked nvidia drivers, or if they have to wait for their manufacturers to update as well.

Congrats on the new lappie, it's good to hear you're satisfied. Here's hoping the 150 watt graphics upgrade is here before Christmas (or at least by Groundhog Day, ffs)!

Edit: Sry...I also wanted to ask whether it was hard to format/install XP...some other bloke on these forums pointed out that you need the RAID driver on a floppy at the beginning of the XP install, so he had to 'slipstream' these onto the actual XP Disc (no floppy) before it would work...how did you do it? TIA>

Well I cant seem to OC...GD!!!!

But, dell had new drivers (already I know)

So I installed them and got 7998 for 3dmark 06. Test is identical to the 7625 #3d06 score.

With just dell drivers and getting damn near 8K, I bet if you over clock and get modded drivers we could almost hit 10K

I don't get why you guys are using XP though.

I would just keep vista and try out the dx10 games.
personally I don't know what DX10 will truly offer. the nuke explosions in crysis are unbelievable in DX9... let em put i this way. every person that has seen it has the same reaction --"HOLY SH#$#@! " that was awesome!
