I've looked, but I haven't found another thread on this exact subject. So, here it comes. I am trying to copy my old legally purchased tapes to my machine. I'm not going to buy them all over again on CD. I have a cassette player with a cable that has a headphone connector on each end. I have been plugging it into the line-in connection on my 8887-X and the headphone connector on the tape player. I have been trying to record using the microsoft supplied sound recorder. I opened up Recording Control and have enabled everything. I have selected the line in (along with several others while experimenting) and it still won't record anything. When I select the microphone it works for external sounds just fine. I must be doing something wrong in my hook-up. I am not at all experienced in sound recording. I've just never had the desire to do it until now. Can anyone tell me where I've gone wrong?
