Downgrade 6831 to XP

Thread Starter
MY friend is trying to downgrade to XP as Vista is just causing too much grieve - not to mention a huge performance hit. Since the system has a SATA controller, the XP install would not recognize the HD so, I d/led the controller drivers from Gateway and slipstreamed an install disc. IT then recognized the HD but, after the format and install it gives me a disc read error when it reboots to begin the install. Would this be a problem with the slipstream? Any ideas? Since the laptop doesn't have a floppy I don't know of any other way to do this. I don't think a USB floppy would be recognized.

Unless you're lucky, the correct driver for your HD my be further down than the first four entries that show on the screen when choosing the driver to install. Just scroll down to the one you need.
