Got the FZ8, need a bit of help

Alright, I know some members out there have the past generation FZ7's and I'd greatly appreciate some advice. What my problem is, is that I find the pictures I take when sized to 1680x1050 (my monitor's native res) they do not look as crisp or "perfect" as I want them to look. Let me post an example.

At the full 1600x1200 (took this pic in 4:3) It looks semi blurred even on the focus point, apparently enough that it got removed by an admin from a self posting wallpaper website.

So, how can I fix this?

Yeah I figured a tripod would do wonders, sadly I have to wait until X-mas being that my mom is like "I have to buy you some material item, I won't just give you money"
