How do I get my Gateway 7322 to boot from a CD?

My computer crashed, and I cannot complete the system recovery process. I get to the point where it is configuring the keyboard and mouse and it sits at halfway through the scroll bar every time. I would like to try to load windows from a CD, but I can't get it to boot from the CD. Any ideas what I can do to get this computer up and running again? Thanks

Did you go into the boot menu on startup (I believe it's the F10 key) and select your cd/dvd drive?

hey i'm having the same problem with my 7322. When you hit f10 to get to the boot menu and select CD/DVD drive, it completely ignores it and tries to boot up the windows system recovery or windows setup. I'm thinking it's the OS or the HDD. If its the HDD, where can I find another?

I'm having the same problem with that same model. I can see that nobody has responded to it, but I'm wondering, have you been able to fix it? If so, can you help me?

I had the same problem but with only met with limited success. If you go into the bios and fiddle with wireless setting (I think its turn off or restore - not on) I got farther. I only knew this because way back when I had a discussion with Gateway and somehow this fixed a progblem I had. That kinda sucked so I just got another computer's restore disk (HP with only the operating system), used that and downloaded the drivers and and imaged that to an Acronis backup file. You have to remember to use a key changer to the key on the COA.

intresting i have not seen this problem..... couple things to check

1. does it pass the post screen (where it has a gateway picture)

2. does it give you a boot error like OS not found, or NDLR is missing?

3. things to try

there is a force boot menu when the computer posts press esc like you would if trying to get into the bios and it will give you a list of all the devices that the computer sees (ex. hd, cd rom, network) select cd rom and see if it boots.

if the cd rom is not in that list it is not detecting the cd rom and you are having a IDE conflict somewhere. take out the hd and see if the cd rom shows up in the list
