7900gs Vs 7950

Worthwhile upgrade? I just got orange box... and I can't run at max settings anymore (at least not at 1920x1200). I have a 1710 w/ 2 gigs of ram and a T7400 as well as xp pro. My 80 gig hd going to be upgraded to a 200gig 7200 rpm drive, so I figured I would upgrade the graphics card too if its worth it.

have you moded it with the GSX BIOs to gain the most performance out of the GS, or are you running stock?

You should look into it, and even if you have a revision 1 card, you can still maybe squeeze enough performance out of it to get back on par. Honestly though, 7900GS's and 1920x1200 resolution aren't buddies.

well CSS I can run at 1920x1200 with maxed everything (including AA and AF) and manage 60-100+ fps depending on the maps... max settings in TF2 ( cept no aa, no motion blur, no hdr, and 4xAF) net me between 30-80fps depending on map...

Where can I buy a 7950.. and what kind of price am I looking at?

yeah no kiddin... well I'm buying a new car right now and that card will be about 1 month worth of payments... lol maybe ill have to suffer

i picked up a 7900Gtx for $ 250.00 thats just almost as good as the 7950GTX

the 7900gtx is just as good when oc'd as the 7950. they are the same chips.

the 7950 is just an 0c'd 7900gtx.

you can get a fx2500 which is a 7900gtx for cheap. as dave said.

the only difference between the 7900gtx and the 7950 besides 75mhz core/ 100mhz mem. is that it supports HDCP.
