I have a problem which hopefully someone in this forum might have some idea(s) about how to resolve it. Specifically I have a HP dv2125nr notebook with a 5-in-1 card reader. I just purchased a Spectec SDG-812 Bluetooth GPS receiver which goes into the SD slot. The SD slot provides power to the Bluetooth device as well as enables access to the MicroSD card on the device.

Currently the device comes to life on insertion into the SD slot an then shuts down after a half a second or so. The device manager shows a 'SD Storage Device' in the drives section but there is an exclamation point within a yellow circle procedding the description.
I have applied the latest BIOS update as well as the most current card reader update but to no avail. I have tried it on my HP hx2755 iPaq and it works just fine.

Being able to use the SD slot is my first choice of a solution but since I can't seem to make the SD slot work right now (and maybe forever), I was considering a second approach. That is to use the ExpressCard port along with a SD to ExpressCard card or a SD to CompactFlash to ExpressCard. This type of approach is easily done but it would require spending money. Unfortunately I do not have enough knowledge about the ExpressCard technology to make a qualified decision.

If anyone has some ideas that will address the problem, I greatly appreciate hearing them

thanks,
Norm
