Foxconn = major manufacture for nVidia.

I have a feeling this is going to become the high-end DX10 mobile GPU.

Debate and discuss.

Not sure if it'll be the next big thing or not, but I think it's sincerely stupid to keep the same 8800XXX naming system going

Yeah i dont get why they are doing that, but, whatever. They shouldve called it G81.

Looks nice though, I can only hope the prices are not off the charts

Rumor mill says a 256 variant for 199, 512mb for 249, and select manufactures will be making their own 1gb versions, dont remember how much though.

Again, those are the rumors.

I wish more people would get in on this discussion.

Oh, and this card is supposed to be on par with the 8800GTX.

Oh wow, that's super affordable. I may just have to discard my 8800GTS for a minor loss and pick one of these babies up

Oh yeah, my 7900 GTO has been good to me, but if these rumors turn out to be true, shes gettin the boot. Ill probably SLI these suckers too. Single slot, 65nm means oodles of OC room...

Until 10.1 comes out I don't see the point in spending money on a "DX10" card that wont support DX10.1

Besides the DX10 games so far are nothing special.

Exactly, and by the time 10.1 is being used, the cards will be outdated. Consider the fact that not everyone buys it for DX10, but for the raw power these next gen cards are capable of. Ive said it a million times...well maybe more like 6 or 7, DX10 cards are just high end DX9 cards with DX10 being an added bonus due to there being, what, 6 DX10 games out right now? My 7900 GTO(GTX flash) is starting to show its age in the latest DX9 games. Why would i upgrade to a 7950GX2 when i could have way more power from an 8-series for a few dollars more?
Meh. I only upgrade every few years so I will wait for 10.1

Thanks for talking sense into me I might as well wait.

No crap Pdonket you already have a 8800GTS. I am still using a 6800. I was going to jump onto the 8800 band wagon but then MS came out with the new standard for 10.1 and all current cards fall short. So I will be waiting. By the time the 10.1 cards come out there will be a reason to get a new card.

Having a GTS already yeah i would advise that too. My 7 series needs a little booster though. I dont think youd be gaining much selling your GTS and grabbing the rumored GT.

I believe G92 is actually 10.1, G92 is also the supposed new high-end according to nVidia. The 8800GT is apparently G96, which would make sense, the new midrange coming close to the old high end.

When I see a card that is certified from MS as 10.1 I will believe it until then no need to get a new card that is going to be out dated by software.

So, although DirectX 10.1 will support current DirectX 10 graphics hardware, today's DirectX 10 hardware will not be able to support all of the features of DirectX 10.1

  • DirectX 10.1 is a series of extensions to DirectX 10
  • It's supported by upcoming graphics hardware, but not current DX10 hardware
  • It requires (and will be part of) Vista Service Pack 1

I know what DX 10.1 is, all i was saying is G92, which is, according to nVidia, their new high end due out in Nov, it is supposed to support DX 10.1.
We well see. I know that nVidia and Ati have the specs but I don't trust marketing until DX10.1 is out and the cards are supporting it I wont be spending any money on an upgrade.
