8800GT stuff - Page 13

You're looking for the cheapest crap you can find Rock... Unless of course you are going back on everything you ever said before you decided to get the Ultra, which you kept for less than two weeks.

Also why did you buy the Cheapest Ultra on the market?

Come on. This thread is getting stupid.
yes you're right, I value money...over my Epeen. Price/Performance ratios are my specialty

Go off and learn your facts, look up the data, then argue with me.

Except most desktop chipsets will run in dual channel even if the ram sizes are mismatched, it will only be limited to the smallest size module, and once again, dual channel performance is worth nearly nothing in real world situations, especially in games. So even still, if you have 2x1gb in dual channel, and upgrade 1 to a 2gb module, youll still have the same dual channel performance, plus an extra gig of single channel, which is still better than 2 gig in dual channel. Its ok, i understand your e-penis has taken quite a few hard blows these past few days with the 8800gt, but now your just acting like a moron/troll with this ram debate, of which you are entirely wrong.

Hey guys ... there's less than a dozen of us posting here about desktops ... let's not fight with each other

Weve also established that SLIed 8800GTs are in fact better than ultras, while costing less money. LOLOL. Now all the sudden you dont have your precious ultra, and next youll be telling us you sold your second 2gb stick of ram for a 1gb stick because the gaming performance is the same since your OS cant really use the last gig . As for that 7800GTX...i believe you said you were all about the best performance? Which currently is 8800GTs in SLI? Where are they? i dont see them in your sig?

So, youve found the best performance in a 2 year old GPU? You sold your precious ultra undoubtebly for a loss, and found a better deal in the performance of a 7800GTX?

dual channel RAM requires a matching pair of RAM in the channels, not in all four slots. Darq can have a pair of 1GB's and a pair of 512MBs and have 3GB of RAM operating in dual channel mode

Please post Results of SLI 8800GTS performing better then 8800Ultras in SLI...If you want to compare sli make sure both are sli'd...Otherwise 1 8800GT is PWNDDD by 1 8800Ultra.

I still say Ultra is top dog and the benchmarks will show that. I only got the 7800GTX until the new series cards comes out...I won't have time to play games in the next few weeks due to some school issues, so I figured why bother keeping something I won't really be using...Bet your bottom dollar soon as the 9800Ultra or GTX is out I will have one. Thank you!

Ah, since ive proved your wrong with trying tolevel the price playing field ala 2 8800GTs being even less than an ultra, you resort to your absolute last arguement, which is two 8800GTs in SLI vs two ultras in SLI. Ive been anticipating you or Sol bringing this up. Since, like youve said we already established that 1 8800gt will not out perform an ultra, why would you bring up SLIed ultras? Ill humor you a little further, though. 2 ultras is over 1200 dollars. 2 GTs is a little over 500. Even you im sure can do simple math, since ultras cost 140% more than the two GTs...are you getting 140% performance increase? I wont even mention power consumption or temperature either, for your sake. Also, FYI, my intent was never to compare SLI, only performance for price. Your SLIed ultra arguement only hurts your feeble attempt at at proving the ultra is a better investment, as did your recent sale of your ultra.

I give up....

Dude, not even trying to argue anymore...but we've already admitted that a single GT cannot beat out an Ultra, nor can SLI GT's vs SLI Ultra's. End of Story.

Get out of this thread if you can't deal with the fact that this is all about pro-GT's.
No its just you want to compare apples and oranges...You can't sli 1 card and then compare it to a SINGLE CARD and say its faster, well DUHHHHH....

Me and SOL's whole point was that if you want top powerr you will pay for it, if you want a mid range type card that will perform fairly decent, then this 8800GT seems to be the solution if you cannot afford a GTX or Ultra.
