Hmmm dx10 as well instead of 10.1, I'll have to go with a pass
post #64 of 261
Yea same here ....Except soon as I get my new stuff working correctly, i'm going back to XP soooon as f'ing possible, nothing runs right on Vista, I don't like it.
Same here, really despise that OS.
lol. I am going to try Crysis on Vista, since I have dual boot. I expect I will end up playing in DX9 XP, though. I just don't card for Vista all that much & I expect minimal differences in eye candy.
Hmm, after looking at specs and it supporting PCIe 2.0, maybe that could have to do with the power potential unlocked here I still doubt it will all come through as planned, but I'll be hella happy if it does

lol for shits and giggles I tried to buy one there. it will not let you get past the cart stage.

I am going to take a wild guess that the 8800GT-512 scores (real-world around 9500-9800 on 3D06 on a non-Oc'ed proc)
Yeah I would agree, I think the scores are fudged, not the cards pricing.

GeForce 8800 GT SLI tested 3DMARK06 18200

Quote:
With three day to go until release the GeForce 8800 GT is probably sparking FPS fantasies for those looking for a great price/performance and maybe a cool and fast SLI setup. It is for the last category that an enthusiastic member of the coolaler forums has taken a couple GeForce 8800 GTs and tested them in SLI mode with Futuremark's 3DMark06. While running on a system composed of an Intel QX6850 @ 3.6 GHz, an Asus Striker Extreme motherboard, 2GB of Crsair DDR2 memory, a Silverstone OP1000 and Windows XP Media Center Edition, a single 8800 GT has scored 13433 points (at 1280x1024, No AA) while the SLI setup managed to score 18200. Please note that the driver version used is unknown although it may be either the ForceWare 167.26 or the rumored 167.37. More to come Monday when the eVIL NDA will be lifted.

interesting, never heard of TCMagazine, but thanks?

I'm going to pass

I just pulled 14,367 on my Ultra @ 3.75GHz w/stock Ultra clocks. Unfortunately the newer nvidia drivers broke overclocking. Next week rivatuner 2.06 is coming to rectify this so I can test at my normal clocks (713/1641/2300)

posted my results on my build page

We had no doubt that NVIDIA was going to bring something to the party to battle the HD 2900 PRO but we didn’t think it was going to be a new card. We thought maybe a few tweaks here and there in the drivers would be done but instead they decide to drop the bombshell that is the 8800GT.

I didn’t pay a lot of attention to the 8800GT rumors until official word came from NVIDIA due to the plain fact that lately there has been so many false rumors about video card models coming and going that you simply don’t know what to believe.

The 8800GT is here though and we’re going to see stock at the beginning of next week all around the world….which is more than we can say for the HD 2900 PRO which impressed us a great deal.

*pauses to head over to local price search engine site*

“search: HD 2900 PRO (no items were found)”

This is really disappointing as the HD 2900 PRO really impressed us, and word from multiple places was that stock was only going to be a week or two away. The 8800GT on the other hand we know is already in the country ready to be shipped come Monday.

While we have the 512MB model with us today there is also a 256MB model that was supposed to be launched, and if samples arrived on time we would have that for you here, but that wasn’t to be.

There’s no point dwelling on all this negativity though, so let’s have a look what MSI have managed to do with the 8800GT along with answering the simple question, “What the hell is the 8800GT?”

Final Thoughts

The absolute worst thing about the 8800GT is the name. It’s confusing as all buggery. It’s bad enough that people think 512MB 8600GTS cards are faster than 320MB 8800GTS’, but what’s going to happen now that the 8800GT is faster than the 8800GTS? There will no doubt be a lot of people correcting each other as they try to buy a more expensive 8800GTS.

Speaking of price, while we don’t have anything official we should see it retail for around $250USD / $350AUD depending on the brand and bundle.

That cool, I think we know what scores the 8800 ULTRA will get, I'm sure everyone here is interested in how a $250 dollar card scores.
Ok yea I definetly won't be ordering from zipzoomfly LOLOLOL....Let me know when newegg has it...Even then i'll pass until the real 8900 or 9800 or 8950 Series comes out.
Whats wrong with zipzoomfly? I just got my new SB X-FI platinum Fatal1ty champion card from them... It was 12 dollars cheaper and had free shipping, plus they still had the 50 dollar rebate. Newegg didn't have neither. I love newegg too, but sometimes you can get a better deal with mwave, zzf, clubit, even tankguys.

I know the new 8800 gts's are coming in Nov, right on time for the Q12008 Jan launch for the new series cards.
their customer service sucks, that's why I will never use them again. They sent me the wrong drive, I called them, argued for days about it, I sent it back (I had to play shipping),. Then they took 2 weeks to get me the right drive & then they had the nerve to charge my credit card for shipping, again...

and as far as posting my scores. I figured I would give an accurate comparison instead of the bogus crap scores that overseas site posted
post #78 of 261
I posted two other US sites also.

zipzoomfly has never failed me. Sorry to hear about your troubles though.

If I had sponsers or money, I'd get two of the 8800GT's and see how easy 20k would be.

Here is a really good article on the 8800GT (And it's even in ENGLISH!)
