It's going to be fun seeing people watercool and such with these cards... It can overclock pretty high.
I wonder if I should whip out the photoshop and do some 30k scores for the 8800GT...I mean so far all the sources are unheard of anyway so whats another uncredible source such as myself lol.

And By the way, thats not the 3DMark score you get when you do it...At least thats never the score sheet i've ever recieved.

I've been a reader for NV and tweaktown for a very long time, just because you haven't heard of them, doesn't mean they're false. Not everyone goes by newegg reviews. Come on.

and I've always recieved a sheet like that for my scores.

I think you're just butthurt that your two week old Ultra can be beat by this $250 card.
AHHAHAHAHAH..

I assure you that 250$ dollar card is NOT beating a Ultra...If that were the case come whenever they "release them" they may as well pull ever other card off their shelves and nvidia can eat the loss on all other cards.
You just don't get it do you. Cards get better cheaper as time goes on. Granted it is not going to beat the Ultra but the $=Performance is much better then with your holy Ultra card. Shop smart, shop S-Mart.
don't sweat it Rk, GQ is just trying to egg you on. Even with SLi, that 8800GT only gets less than 1K more than my SM2/HDR-SM3 scores.

THe only real score advantage is that QC, which pulls around 2K over my DC. I want to see that card scored with a DC & see what numbers it produces

I see this all over the net, Ultra and GTX owners going off on anything about the 8800GT, the GTS coming out Nov is going to be even more powerful

I'm tired of defending this, get a clue.

Quite a reasonable response nyako!

Oh yeah it is a good deal for people wanting an inexpensive card that performes extremely well for the price. (extremely well!)... Price-->performance the GT is a lot better deal than the Ultra, but the Ultra still retains the top slot & will do so until the 9800 series comes out to slaugter them!

Today, we will see the Geforce 8800GT 512MB cards, otherwise known as the G92 flood the market at a fantastic SRP of USD$249 (SGD$370~), successfully replacing the 8800GTS 320MB which falls into the same price point, and at the same time, outperforms the 8800GTS 320/640MB by a good 10~15% in most games. We will also see Nvidia employing a single slot cooling solution instead of the familiar beefy two-slot cooling that G80 sport. This is largely due to the reduction in die size, many thanks to the reduced die fabrication process to 65nm, 15nm down from the 80nm process used in the G80s. With the introduction of single slot cooling, many will be thankful as they will have the option to stuff one of these little monsters down microATX cases with slot cooling restrictions, especially on those mini-cube PCs from Shuttle and likes which cannot do with 2 slot graphic cards. In this review, we will be touching on high-resolution wide screen gaming at 1920x1200 and 2560x1600 in Windows Vista, indulging in DX10 goodness...

If I had that processor my scores would be above 16K so I'm not concerned. Once the card is officially released & we have some real benches that can be orb verified I will be happy. Too many quote posts in this thread, it's a nightmare trying to surf through it all.

FYI those test were done with a XQ9650 proc.

only 3ghz too, not bad, I'll be doing my reviews at hopefully 3.6+ with my upcoming Q9450.

This definitely makes me want to pick one up and sell off my 8800GTS, although I think selling the GTS will be difficult.
I'm going to get two.

Anybody here want a 8800GTS 320mb?

Actually after reconsidering I think I'll just keep the 8800GTS and then whenever it can't handle games I actually want to play, then I'll upgrade...gotta be saving up for my 8000 mile road trip

In the end, Nvidia has taken its time, but offers an exceptional card with the GeForce 8800 GT. For about $230 it nearly displays the power of a GeForce 8800 GTX (under 3%) twice as expensive.
http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/10/..._gt/index.html Alright, I'm done. Enjoy.
the GeForce 8800GT has a computational power 46% higher than that of the 8800GTS and merely 3% lower than the 8800GTX! The only downside is memory bandwidth decreasing by 10% (still in comparison to the 8800GTS). Memory capacity is now 512 MB, but a 256 MB version will appear in the coming weeks.

Computational power & actual performance are 2 different things, which were revealed under game testing in the article. It is still a very powerful card for the price, but still doesn't topple the GTX or the Ultra in terms of performance.

I would suggest it to anyone that has not yet purchased a card, or looking for a mid-range card that performs extremely well & only takes up 1 slot. If money isn't a consideration I would still grab a GTX or Ultra for the most performance.

Heres a pretty good review. http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/articl...ZW50aHVzaWFzdA== Seems to be just under the GTX, all stock clocks, @ 1600x1200. The memory size doesnt seem to be much of a problem at 1920x1200 either for UT3, although different games will vary obviously.

Considering 2 GTs in SLI cheaper than an Ultra, is faster than an Ultra at 1920x1200 and below in UT3, id heavily consider the SLI option before i bought an Ultra, or even a GTX.
